Do you have the console set up where it automatically shuts down the console every so many hours?
You don't have your power cable plugged into a surge protector, right? Can you confirm with me you've tried all the steps above.
You mentioned not having anything plugged into the USB ports. What about controllers and headsets?
Surely those should not cause issues?

Is your system software up to date?https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/update-playstation-system-software-safe-mode/

Those SHOULD be fine. I've see weird things happen with random devices like guitar hero dongles and even my cell phone charger causing menus to move slower when I was trying to charge my phone. There are some controller charging dock stations that have caused issues before too. If it's just the wire that came with the console to plug into it that is okay. For a headset, you could always try removing it just to see if you avoid crashes, this way we can completely rule out a compatibility issue.- 4 years ago
Yes my ps5 had a system software update a few days ago .

Can you try deleting your skater profiles and create a fresh one to see if that clears up the errors?

Ok...I've done all the recommended items above to resolve the issue...and just now my entire XSX shut down once again in the middle of a squad battles game. I don't have this issue with any other game I play. It would be one thing to crash the game..but my XSX? Not good.
Was fine playing rivals earlier today...squad battles has not been kind to me.
Points lost, points lost...lots of time put in to this game, lots of points lost.
Things that make you want to throw your controller! :-(

I understand how you feel. I had this happening to me during War Zone and once I plugged the console straight into the wall (no surge protector) I was able to address. I also power cycled the console and made sure the games were fully closed down. Not sure if you are quick resuming the game, there are some reports of that.
Do you have your power settings on Energy Savings mode with automatic shutdown disabled?Have you taken the power cable out of the back of the Xbox and plugged it back in?
When it shuts down does the console feel hot? You definitely have it in the open with nothing blocking the vents for it, right? Improper ventilation and space can lead to it shutting down to prevent overheating.
If you're using a surge protector or extension cord please try plugging it straight into the wall. Even Microsoft recommends plugging it directly into the wall as the Xbox has a built in surge protector.
Lastly, although it's only happening for NHL in your case it may be a software glitch. If it continues, performing a factory reset is an option to take. Before you do that though, I recommend power cycling the modem/router in order to refresh your connection, that way if there are any hiccups in the speed of the connection or high packet loss, we can help reduce the chances of that when the next software update is downloaded.

Mr Blueberry,,,, What is EA doing about NHL 2022 crashing ALL the time? This has gotten insane. I can't even finish a single season in Franchise mode. The next email will go on YOU Tube with a video of the crashing, live, and a letter to the NHL players Assn on the fact they have sold their names to a porduct that desnt work, and clearly I'm not the only one having an issue..... What are you doing about this and when can we expect and update that will actually work??? This is NOT a hardware issue!
