Please EA read this and correct your mistakes for NHL 23

Things EA needs to fix for NHL 23:

HUT is very pay to win. I know EA wants to loathe in their money even thought they made a terrible game, I get it. Instead of people only being able to get players from packs and sets, maybe they could try and XP system that rewards players as they play in any mode. As a player gains more XP, the more rewards they get. This will slow down pay to wins and attract people to play the game more and still have a life outside of playing this video game. EA could also brighten up the HUT challenges. The HUT challenges are the same boring thing every single event. EA could enhance the AI team into actually playing realistically or do some sort of player lock challenges in WOC that can go over to HUT. With HUT being the games most player mode. You would think they would change it after seeing how easy it is to win when a player spends over $100 of in game purchases.

Gameplay is also horrible. Goalies are very, very inconsistent in franchise mode even if their consistency is a 2-2. When a goalie has high ratings, a person would figure that they would be good. Wrong. Franchise goalies, HUT goalies, Online Versus goalies, threes goalies are all inconsistent. Threes goalies could be considered consistent because they are bad all the time.

When a player spams poke check a trip rarely occurs and they never lose stamina. EA could decrease the players stamina by a little bit so there is a penalty to spamming R1 or RB.

Charging is also a big thing in the game. Or is it? I never see charging penalties get called in HUT. Many players charge at opposing players and sometimes injure them and nothing is called. A stick lift on a player without the puck is somehow an interference penalty, and a shove in front of the net is also an interference penalty.

Some of the things listed are a pretty easy fix. One would think. Hopefully EA actually reads this and the millions of other feedback to make a playable NHL 23. Thank you for your time.

  • @TicRic08 Why is there no mode to play couch co-op and earn rewards? Me and my girlfriend just played an exhibition game and once finished earned no coins or not accumulative stats. The only way we can earn anything in couch co-op is to play HUT rush or HUT challenges. I just want to play a NORMAL game of hockey and still earn rewards. I can't see the reason why couch co-op is being punished here

EA is dumb. They took EASHL out of the game and replaced it with pond hockey. I refuse to pay for HUT because it's boring and stupid. I used to buy this game going to back to 2009 ish and play competitively at a chosen position, live with my friends. I would buy the better version for $69 or whatever it was, then spend another $50 the same day buying equipment upgrades. So they got over $100 from me every single year and I played for 4-5 hours every single night. Bring back live hockey, and cancel HUT, you'll make more money. Now I wait for the POS to from to $25 at back Friday because quite frankly it's not worth $59.

    Hey, @TicRic08

Thanks for taking time out to write out the areas of the game you want to see improvement around. Welcome to the forums, too!

If you were in the driver's seat in creating HUT challenges, what would they look like to you?

Thank you for replying to my concerns,

If I were to create HUT challenges, I would make the AI harder to engage players to have to play the whole 1 or 2 minute periods. I find the hitting challenge very hard when on Pro difficulty or lower because the players are so slow and not advanced enough to be in a position where there they have to take a hit to make a play. The all-star and superstar bots are easier to get hits against, but they make every other objective more difficult which makes it more fun and rewarding. I think if the AI difficulty is raised more, people HUT challenges would have a big popularity if someone wants to build their team offline.

HUT challenges could also have better rewards, but it would have to be a longer proccess to get the rewards. For example, I would have a 15 game long for each event challenge beginning on All star and finishing on Superstar. The challenge event will last two weeks, but it would reset after the first week for the new selection of cards that would come out like every other card event in NHL 22. It would just be longer and harder. I think players should get the best rewards from HUT Challenges and HUT champions because they take the most skill and time to finish with my new HUT challenges. It would make people "play to earn" instead of "pay to earn", which is what the game should be about.

Going along with rewards, I think player lock challenges would be new and interesting. Say a new an NHL playoff event came out with 6 different cards. Instead of people buying packs in the store to use those players for collectibles, there could be player lock challenges. The gamer would have to do a player lock challenge with each player in the event(once or twice with each player) and when they are finished they could get a choice pack with players from the event or a pack from the event that is in the store.

I hope this helps in any way. I feel like the challenges would really go a long way in making HUT more fun and less pay to win.

No problem! We do our best to respond to as many posts as we can but sometimes with time constraints we have to focus on reading as much as we can so feedback can be passed along to the team. We've got eyeballs on these forums so voices are definitely being heard.

Regarding the HUT AI, I think what you're conveying are thoughts other players have brought up how difficulties seem inconsistent. We'll let the team know we're still observing this feedback on the forums. AI could always see improvement and the team is continually doing this year after year. A lot of times players won't notice the changes year to year, but if you go back 5 NHLs and play one you'll see more significant differences on how they react to situations. Making them harder could feel grindy for challenges though, don't you think? I've seen feedback from players in the past how there are too many games required to play so I am a little weary on making the AI more difficult. If someone were to fail a challenge after a few tries on a continuous basis it could start to feel like a chore?

I agree the best HUT Rewards should come from HUT Champions because of it's competitive landscape. We'll let the team know you want to see similar rewards scaled up for HUT Challenges.

Love the idea about player lock challenges and will pass that along. There is a similar challenge in Madden 22 with campaign players.

Thank you for your thoughts and best of luck to you on the ice this weekend!

Here is another no brainer that EA has implemented. On weekly challenges. Every 2nd week they insert a challenge that those who are online gamers can attain, to get the overall reward of a premium pack. Isolates those gamers who do not play online. Your ridiculous pack costs for garbage cards is one thing. But to give only a certain amount of the overall community an unfair advantage is truly low ball and cheap. Best you listen to the complaints of the community and fix them, before this franchise finds no one to sell the game too.
