POISE

Lets talk about Poise. How is it a guy like Marleau, who has been in the league for 2 centuries, not have 99 poise. He has the record for Games Played, he has gold medals and multiple NHL all-stars. no he may not have ever won a Cup but the man has seen and done pretty much everything. Or take a guy like Crosby, his poise is 93 in the 2026 season. How is one of the faces of hockey only a 93 poise. There is a ton of other examples to go with this.

In addition to the poise being low to start, why is it that poise doesnt seem to grow much. For example, the year is 2026 and we are coming off a Stanley Cup victory why do my young players have terrible poise...? they just won 52 regular season games, went to and won a Cup... I shouldnt have 5 year pro, Stanley Cup winning players with 74 poise. Hell, even if they havent won anything you would think that the poise would go up as they got older and played more games.

Poise needs to be tweaked badly

  • So, devil's advocate - You get people like Bruce Willis who've been acting longer than the Earth is old, admit to having stage fright. So, yeah, nerves still get to people.

However, I agree, Poise is a next to useless stat. It should pretty much be removed at this point. Not to mention all the analytics that sctreams have done proving the Poise does next to nothing for the game.

@IrishOwl Except that poise basically controls whether or not your team makes the playoffs and how they do during the playoffs

I've never found that to be the case. Granted, I don't really watch my teams poise at all times, but I've won a couple hundred Stanley Cups over a few dozen Franchises, there's no way each of those teams had perfect poise.

@IrishOwl you are more likely to collapse and miss the playoffs or stumble in the playoffs if you have low poise. its proven

Where is it proven?  just curious because it has never felt like it mattered.  Especially with goalies, which seems to be completely random

@arturowar It has been discussed at length and tested by multiple people. higher poise means better production late in the season.
  • I'm guessing that this proff finally stopped the hype with Poise?
