Re: Body checking

@UnwiserSpider76

Pressing down the right stick will body check if you are using the Skill Stick control scheme. If you are using the Hybrid control scheme then the Y button should be used.

    Hi Barry,

    Thank you for your quick reply. I do use the Skill Stick control scheme. When I try to body check an opposing player, they back up. Do I need to select the player to body check with the right trigger? I know the player is moved using the left stick, but when I move my player toward an opposing player with the left stick they move away before I can use the right stick  to body check them. Is there something else I need to know and/or do to effectively check.

    Please advise as any additional tips would be appreciated.

    Sorry for not being clearer, you need to press the stick down like a button, not pull it back towards yourself.

    Hi Ea-Barry,

    Thanks again for your quick reply. I did read to body check you should direct the right button toward the opposing player when you get close to him using the left button. So are you saying I need to push down on the right button? I'm sure it's easy to do, but I have been flaying around like a dummy trying to finish my check.

    I appreciate all of your help.

    @UnwiserSpider76

    With the skill stick control scheme and left stick hitting (available in settings) turned on, skating into the player with the left stick should do it. With left stick hitting off, skate into the player and press up on the right stick when you make contact.

    Hi again,EA- Barry,

    Thanks again for your quick reply. I am pretty sure the left stick hitting is set on my controls as my Son In Law checks me all over the place. I could go into settings and double check it. It sounds like your saying if the left stick hitting is on, then I can body check without using the right stick? Either way i will check it out. I use the skill stick settings currently. When I play against the CPU, the players backs away as I move toward him with the left stick, and that's in the rookie mode. Another question is do I need to select the player I want to check with with the right trigger, or can I just move the player I want to check with without selecting him with the right trigger?

    I never understood the right stick button. It looks more like a hip check.

    I know when I use the right stick, it does seem like a hip check.  I still am unable to body check when playing against the CPU. When I move toward the player with my left stick, he just backs away. If I select my player with the right trigger, the opposing player just goes around my player on a break away. Frustrating. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    The really good players know how to avoid body checks, you're best not to take the bait and go for it. One of my pet peeves is that this game should not have the indicator highlighted for the opponent. When your opponent knows which player you're controlling this influences what they do during the game.
