Are you currently on a VPN? If so try getting off of that.
It could be a program on your PC that's conflicting with the Origin client from downloading the game. Try a clean boot and then immediately launch Origin.

tried it a few times and experimented with it for a bit, still no result.

Try clearing the cache for Origin. https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
If that doesn't fix it, I'd recommend contacting our Live-Support team so they can pull up your account to determine why the game cannot be downloaded.
