Bought BF3 Through Steam And Don't Have CD Activation Key

Hi,

The other day I bought BF3 on Steam because it was on sale. I was immediately able to play it and access Battlelog with no problem; I have 7 hours logged currently. Today I tried to open up BF3 in Steam and got hit with a message on Origin client saying that I needed an activation code yet I never got one in my email from Steam or Origin. Whenever I open BF3 from Steam, Origin identifies it as an unknown game. However, when I check my Origin account, it states that BF3 is from Steam.

I attempted to find my code (used this article recommended by EA: https://help.ea.com/uk/help/origin/origin/origin-code-redemption-faq/#findcode) by right clicking on my game and selecting "Game Properties", but it simply won't open no matter how many times I click on Game Properties. I've cleared Origins cache with no luck. I've uninstalled & reinstalled Origin in hopes that BF3 would work but to no avail. I even uninstalled & reinstalled BF3 and still ended up with the same situation

I have linked my PC's DxDiag and a screenshot of my greyed out BF3 not opening Game Properties if that helps.

Regards,

Ole Trout Mouth

  • Hey @OleTroutMouth have you previously owned BF3 on Origin?

When linking the accounts through Steam, are you sure that you linked the correct EA account?

It could be a case that you have multiple EA accounts and may have linked a secondary one.

If you purchased the game on Steam and need a product code then you will need to reach out to Steam support for this: https://help.steampowered.com/en/

  • Same thing is happening with me on BF4 and theres reviews saying its happening to quite a few other people and they're refunding. I had no issues for 2 days and now for over a day i haven't been able to play at all. Went through support multiple times for them to just push me off to another representative. Really an annoying situation.

  • Hi @EA_Darko, I haven't owned BF3 on Origin before. I haven't been able to get on my computer for a few days and just now Origin picked up BF3 & BF4 on my account.

I think it took a while for the games to process through Origin or that I just needed to restart my computer. I verified that my Steam and Origin accounts are linked together.

Thank you for finding the time to respond and help me out.

  • @OleTroutMouth I am having this issue too i have talked to EA and they had to talk to their higher ups and they did say they will try and fix this issue. but its already been a whole week and still cant log in to play so most likely it will take a while before it is fixed.
  • @EA_Darko hey i am having the same problem and dont know how to get it fixed would you like to help me out. i am in need of help and have been waiting a week now.
