@joe84780 I literally bought a new laptop yesterday and now I'm getting exactly the same error. I know my new machine far exceeds the minimum requirements, I've tried reloading my Origin games library and still the same. I tried installing the corresponding version of DirectX as suggested by EA_Darko but I can't - Microsoft won't have it. Guess we have to wait for the next update to fix it??

- Hello @EA_Darko, can't attach the screen shot from Microsoft but what they say when I try to download DirectX 8 is:-
"DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is necessary."
No matter how many times I try to download it, this message always comes up and I cannot progress further. Would be pleased to know if a patch will be coming soon. Thank you.- EA_Darko
Try running the game in compatibility mode and play around with them to see if you can get it working that way @itlookslikerain.
DarkoI am having the same issue above, 4 month old laptop, C&C worked up until about 6 weeks ago. Now Microsoft advise they do not do a stand alone DirectX install anymore. It is now an intergral part of Windows 10. Origin needs to update their software to utilize the intergrated DirectX 12. Is there a fix on the way? Origin is unusable for C&C in the current status
