Have Anthem pre-order but locked out of VIP demo

As the title says I have the Anthem pre-order on my Origin account, I got it through the NVIDIA RTX promotion where I got a code for the game. Origin knows I have access to the demo, it even allowed me to generate the Friend Pass link. I currently have friends who are in the game right now but I am unable to join - every time I open the game it says I don't own it and when I click on "Buy Anthem" it brings me to the store page on Origin where it says "View in Library". Does anybody know if there is a solution to this?
