Origen Shut down?
Hi!
I heard of origin for a while and I honestly love the service, but I have a couple of questions that maybe you may have the answer for them Counting that it doesn't bug you too much to answer to my silliness but believe me that these questions are about to drive me nuts and I really need just an honest and straight answer
Look I want to buy some couple of games and wanting to buy way and I mean way more but some friends and me have been thinking what would happened in these possible scenarios. and it somethings that´s holding me back a bit. So without further ado
First, What happens if my account gets banned or suspended for whatever reason?? Because of this I would lose access to my account and as such to all of my games ?? Do you really owe your games on Origin?
And second but not least, and this the pretty big one. I know this is a very, very remotely, highly unlikely case but I still have to ask. In the maybe impossible Scenario that EA would Shut Down Origin service for Whatever reason. What would happened to all of the User´s entire Library of Games, DLC and Special Content?? Would we lose it all? with no hopes of ever recovering it
Guys Please help me out with this one. Cause its a brain destroyed
Thanks in Advances
Best Regards
Hi @TheOldWraith,
Happy to answer your questions!
- Do I own games on Origin? - you don't own the games. Instead, they are licensed to you.
- Banned Accounts - It depends on the type of ban that's active on your account; an online ban would mean you can still login but won't have access to any online features. A full account ban would mean that you can't login anymore. If you just normally play your games there's no need to worry about account bans.
- Service Shutdown - In the highly unlikely scenario that EA's live service is shutting down we could look at options to make sure content can be backed up. This scenario is so unlikely though that I can't really comment on it further.
I personally wouldn't worry about any of the scenarios mentioned above. I've had my Steam account since 2003, and my EA (Origin) account since 2011. Still have access to all content I've ever redeemed 🙂
