Origin Installation Problems

I got a new PC the other day. I've been wanting to play The Sims 4 but can't because of this issue.

I have downloaded the Visual Redistritutable package and even Visual Studio itself to see if that worked. Nothing changed.

I know this PC never had Origin before but if it makes a difference, it was used for work purposes before.

Please help and thank you!

Hey @Funkycass and @gwen925 this issue is caused by running an out of date VC++ installation. It can be resolved by manually running the installer from the Origin installation folder - the default location for this folder is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin

From this folder, run one of both files:

vcredist_x86_vs2015 (for 32bit Windows version)

vcredist_x64_vs2015 (for 64bit Windows version)

If you get the message that the files are already installed, select Repair instead. It is recommended to run the installer as administrator (right-click the file, select run as admin).

@gwen925 same here got a new laptop today my old one had it but the new one try to installed it but same came up for me

I am still having issues as the original post, I have tried all suggestions, including removing old C++ redist and installing the latest. I have even tried the repair option suggested. Original error exists when trying to install OriginThinSetup.exe code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found, re-installing may fix this problem. Also VCRUNTIME140.dll same message, both files are in the Windows/System32 folder.
Any other suggestions please?

I had the exact same problem i tried searchin for the file like u said put it in exactly how u put it and i couldnt find it

Hey @65435650 if the steps did not work then I would recommend a clean install of the files after removing all existing ones.

Did you install both files?
