Origin lifetime link with Steam nonsens

Little more than a year back I went to visit my brother and stayed there for about 3 weeks. I wanted to use his laptop to play apex on. I logged into my account and got busy sorting something out. In the meantime his kid came and logged me out of my steam account and logged onto his account. Later that night I started to install apex and played a little to see if the game ran properly which i did not. I only then saw that it was his kids account I linked my origin account to. I did not think it was that big a issue.

Today I wanted to try BF V with the play free weekend and downloaded the almost 100 gig game and I saw I had to unlink his kids account. After starting the game it asked me to log into my origin account which I did and got an error message about the account can only be linked once in a lifetime to steam.[Removed by CM] So not only can I not play BF V and maybe buy it if it is what I like but it has made me decide that as a lifelong BF player to not ever purchase another origin game. As long as you stick with that ridiculous rule you will not see me buying another game from you. I am sure there are a lot of people who feel the same way as me.

The one account link per service for the lifetime of the account issue is something that many EA customers are experiencing thanks to their new deal with Game Pass. We've been begging them to address this issue for six months. Hopefully at some point they decide that addressing this is worth the time and money, because apparently we're not worth enough to them.

@Micetro You can now contact support to fix this, they're finally making an exception for this lifetime rule
  • @suzuh No, they arent making any exceptions.
    The Policy is their God.
    Support is pointless link sharing.
  • @suzuh I had a conversation a minute ago.
"I understand your situation, however as per our policy, only one steam account can be linked with an EA account.
If the same steam account is delinked then your unable to link any other Steam account"

Looks like there's no hope for me.
I send an email, maybe some human will receive it one day.

@Tsuzikihi You'll have to keep trying until you find the right support rep. A lot of them are not aware of this change and will just copy-paste that answer every time. I lost count of how many times support told me they can't do anything about it, until that solution was posted in that thread, I tried again and I got lucky because I found a support rep who knew what I was talking about.

Make sure you read all the replies on that thread that come after the solution post, so you know exactly what to tell them.

And btw while the thread is about Xbox accounts it still worked for me when I asked to change the linked Steam account

@Tsuzikihi I've personally always used US support even if I'm not from there
