Forum Discussion
I've hijacked a couple of other threads trying to find a solution to this problem with no luck so far, and I know other people are experiencing the same issue, so I thought I would consolidate it into a single thread.
When executing the OriginThinSetup file downloaded from the official website to install Origin it opens a blank white window. In order to bypass the OriginThinSetup file I therefore downloaded a previous version of Origin from an external website, which automatically updated to the current version upon installation. Attempting to log in to the current version however presented another blank white window.
Things I've tried:
- Ran the OriginThinSetup file (and Origin itself) as administrator.
- White-listed the OriginThinSetup file (and Origin itself) with my security software.
- Ran my system in a clean boot.
- Cleared the Origin cache.
- Manually uninstalled and then reinstalled Origin.
- Ran an sfc scan which "did not find any integrity violations".
- Ran a fix on my Visual C++ Redistributables (2013 and 2015) which returned no issues.
- Ensured I have the most recent version of my graphics driver (as validated by my device manufacturer).
- Ensured I have the most recent Windows updates.
I don't know if perhaps my device just isn't compatible with the new Origin client? Let me know if anyone has any further suggestions as to how I can fix this! It would be greatly appreciated, thanks 🙂

I forgot to add: my operating system is Windows 7.

I also have this problem. I have tried all fixes suggested in other threads, nothing worked.
When I tried to open the updated Origin, and after I attempted to reinstall, I was just presented with a blank white window. I should note that it appears that the buttons, etc. are still there because if I hit the top right corner where the [X] usually it, the window closes.
Running Windows 7 with intel graphics, drivers up to date.
Some help would be appreciated EA.

Please post a DxDiag so that I can compare your and @cutemma systems. Post it with your next reply. You can do that with the "choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

I had a previous version of origin on my Windows 8 pc. After 14th Sept 2016 I was asked to update Origin, I did so. After updating, Origin does not start, don't know what it is doing but it looks like the attached image. Even if I leave it for the entire day, nothing happens. I have tried reinstalling after removing the cache and Origin registry entries but to no effect. I am a big fan of FIFA franchise and really wanting to play the demo. Please help.

I have the same problem, but I'm running Win10. I hope EA understands the need to fix it. But I know not to expect anything from these people.
I've uploaded my dxdiag if it means anything.

I'm having a similar problem where sometimes the menus won't work. Some of the tabs will drop down, some of them won't. I've been wanting to change the install folder for my games, but the client won't let me.

In a previous post I wrote that this problem was resolved after a Windows update. I am running Windows 7. However, it was not Service Pack 3 for Windows 7. My apologies. That service pack was for Microsoft Office. Here are the other things that got updated that day:
Microsoft Silverlight 5.1.50709.0.
Also Windows updates: KB3179573, KB3172605, KB3161102.
Security updates: KB3185911, KB3185319, KB3184122, KB3177186, KB3175024.

Hi guys, i have the same blank page problem from the last update, i think was 1 december. Cant see friends or other things. I had try everything, but nothing work.
Plus, Chrome page is blank, Firefox blank, and also on my android XD.
I dont understand, The client was ok for years, now they want to change the graphics and also is less user friendly, for write to a friend you need a lot of step, this is not an improvment.
Also it s unbelievable that the biggest company of videogame have this problems. Time to change the dev division ;P

I have tried ORIGIN on similar brand new laptop (same model same specifications) and it works perfectly fine. I don't think the issues is with Intel Graphics. There is some application or serviice which seems to be blocking ORIGIN. If there is any way to find out which application or service is blocking it, I guess the issue can be resolved.
- Anonymous9 years ago@cutemma try it now I went back and tried again and now it's able to download
- Anonymous9 years ago
No firewall here, windows fully updated. The machine does have realtek audio, but so does the one im typing on now, which origin does indeed work fine on... So I dont believe its audio.

I did try to run the setup file in a clean boot, which should have ruled out the possibility of a conflicting program or service. You could try that on your system?
- Anonymous9 years ago@cutemma
Tried safe mode and clean boot..still not working...however yesterday I got lucky...Started my Pc and Origin worked properly...startded downloading FIFA17 DEMO..got stuck at 98%...tried to restart Origin...back to problem 1..same white screen...I checked the windows logs to see if something different I did but could not find anything.

So, Origin 'updated' sometime last week because I couldn't connect to the old version. Well, after the update, it gets stuck at the white login/launcher window. So I tried downloading Origin and installing it that way with no change. Kinda sucks, because without Origin I can't play DA:I. I tried disabling anti-virus/firewall, and that did no good. I am running Win10 64-bit. EA, what kind of "update" makes it impossible to play my games? I hope it can be fixed soon...

First insure that you operating system and drivers, especialy for you graphics card, are fully up to date then follow the steps below.
Please exit Origin completely the open your Task Manager and end the process called OriginWebHelperService.
Now follow the steps HERE to clear you Origin Cache files.
Reboot your computer, if Origin auto starts, exit it completely then, right click on the Origin Icon and choose Run As Administrator.
If Origin still fails to connect and allow you to log in, disable your firewall and anti virus temporarily and try running Origin as administrator again.
Let us know if that gets you back to playing your games.

No change. Still can't get Origin to launch all the way. This is so dumb. A couple days before the update I opened up Origin and everything worked fine, then the update comes and breaks itself. Not promising.

This is exactly my issue.

Have you checked the marked solution and other responses in this thread? Several players stated that they've managed to get it working.
I would definitely recommend to read through this thread - do let me know if you have further questions.

If using Avast, allow it under exceptions on Web Shield.

Well I don't know if this was mentioned before but I ran my computer on safe mode with networking and I ran the origin installer as an administrator. When I did that I got like sorta a bunch of Origin logos. Sorta like a bunch of stickers on a page? They were off to the right of the window. The window normal sized and the rest was just blank save for the little black thing at the top that says origin. Imma try to get a pic if anyone else hasn't seen this.
