wondering what my options are as I've just seen the popup in origin that the app will shut down in April of next year. My mac can't update to Catalina, which means that I can't download or use the ea app. aside from spending a grand I don't have on a new computer, what am I supposed to do here?

I'm afraid the only option is to upgrade your device. If you use Origin, you’ll need to upgrade to the EA app, which requires macOS Catalina 10.15.5 or later.

It is not fair on existing customers who have spent lots of money on Sims 4 content etc for them to become unable to continue to use the ability to carry on playing the game.
I am extremely upset and disappointed about this situation because I'm sorry but I'm not going to spend money on buying a brand new laptop when all I really use my laptop that still works completely fine is to create basic spreadsheets and to play Sims 4. Sims 4 allows me to escape my real world and just make up fun make believe families and storys etc. This is going to effect not only my mental health but a lot of other peoples as well.
