Possible to backup games, to avoid re-downloading them in the future?
I have a slow Internet connection, so would prefer to backup games over 30+ GB, to avoid having to re-download them in the future.
In Steam, you can right-click on a game > Properties > Local Files > Backup game files. You can then back them up on a network share etc.
Is this possible to do this in Origin? (as many games are large, such as Star Wars Battlefront II being 90 GB etc.)
EA Origin doesn't have the same back up feature as Steam but you can back them up in a way find the location of the game you want to back up and copy the whole folder to the drive you want to store it on to. Then in the future if you want to install the game again you still do need a internet connection as you need to download the game till it gets to about 2% of the download then pause the download, shut down EA Origin and then copy the back-up to the location you started the download first.
Once done open EA Origin and un pause the download after a few seconds it should say PREPARING instead of DOWNLOADING or something like that and once it will have installed the game, remember to copy from your back up do not move the entire folder.
So in short....
Copy entire game you want backing up to your back up drive
when wanting to play it again, start the download and then pause after 2-5% is downloaded and shut down EA Origin
Copy back up to download location
Open Up EA Origin
Start Download it should then install it and your good to go
This is what I have been doing for years when I had a rubbish ADSL+2 connection speed was awful but now on Fibre I don't back up anymore
