@lgbmc1 Hit Windows key-R and enter "services.msc" without quotes. Scroll through the list to Origin Client Service and Origin Web Helper Service, and for each one, double-click, choose "Disabled" under Startup type, and click Apply to save the changes. Then try to download again. You might need to restart your computer for it to work.

@MissMoodle800 Please run Origin as an admin: right-click on the shortcut and select "Run as administrator." (Keep doing this while troubleshooting.) If that alone doesn't help, temporarily turn User Account Control to its lowest setting.

If that doesn't help either, temporarily disable your antivirus/firewall; make sure to reenable it when you're done troubleshooting. The next step would be trying to download in a clean boot.

If nothing else works, create a new admin user account on your computer, and download or update Sims 4 in that account. The username on the account should contain only letters and numbers, no special characters, accents, etc.
