Depends on your system, but for Windows 10 try this:
1) navigate to the location of the Sims 4 application on your computer, e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin
2) select the Sims 4 application, e.g. TS4_x64.exe
3) right click, select Send to, then select Desktop (create shortcut)
I went to do that and I have nothing in that folder. I am concerned...
