@Roccondil1 and @Breloss Click Origin in the upper left corner, then Exit. A lot of apps keep running when you X them out instead of manually quitting, not just Origin. (It even happens in macOS.)
What we want, is for it to not "minimize to system tray" when we press X unless we specifically set an option TELLING it to behave that way. Doing so by default is f-ing obnoxious and not proper app behavior by any stretch of the imagination!
I wish people would STOP suggesting that we "go to the menu and select "Exit" - that is NOT what we're asking for, we're asking for proper X button behavior!!!
You can bet that most of the people who are frustrated by this bad app behavior don't bother creating threads about it, but even so, I've seen many complaints about this - it's REALLY bothering people and we shouldn't have to be complaining about it in the first place, it simply shouldn't be done this way! If you must have this type of behavior in your app, then ASK the user first before turning it on!!!!!!
Every time I play a game under the Origin launcher I'm faced with this issue causing me stress, I DONT WANT IT TO DO THIS, is uninstalling Origin really the only way to stop it from pissing me off by it's not following proper GUI standards?

How about we take two steps back and think how we are communicating with other members of the forums. @Critofur
It takes two click to shutdown Origin is not the end of the world but there is room for improvement, sure there is.

The behavior of minimizing to system tray on X is something that should always be user preference driven. It not being controllable by the user breaks well established design conventions and is something that is purely driven by business interests so the "please be nice" response is really inappropriate and insulting. People are allowed to be upset with a bad product.

THIS is 100% correct. WHY do i need to click extra buttons to exit an app that has a big X in the corner? what is even the point of putting minimize up there next to it! There are two buttons that do the same thing in the same place except 1 is made to look like it does something else. I know many computer illiterate people that would NEVER have the knowledge or memory to know that the X isn't close. It's a set standard for closing applications and EA knows this. They just want to keep gathering data in the background of unsuspecting victims while also annoying their competent userbase. They know what they did, and continue to do it. This app is going in the trash as soon as i get done with my 10h free trial of BF2042. They had the option, they took it away, it was on purpose. That post and your post are not helpful, and, yours feels like bullying - I was simply trying to explain clearly that we're tired of people ignoring what we're asking for and making un-helpful suggestions."Just having to pull down a menu and make a couple clicks" IS a problem because they [the developers who made the Origin app] are ignoring proper GUI behavior and causing unnecessary frustration that irritates us over and over and over and over.
The "X" button is simple, effective, clear - good GUI design and this app is violating that in a way which is unpleasant each time we play game which requires the Origin launcher, which, in itself is frustrating too. I'd rather just install the game and not have a half dozen different "launchers" like Steam/Origin/Epic Games/Battle.net etc. etc ad nauseum.
The fact that it fails to close when we press the e(X)it button (it's not M for minimize) is adding insult to injury - it is OFFENSIVE that the user is not even asked if this behavior is OK first, and is simply shoved down our throats without even an option to correct and make the app behave as it should.

If only we had some way to close an app, say by pressing X and if we wanted it minimised we press the - minimise button.
