Stuck on Verifying Game Files - Sims 4

I think while I was cleaning out my files a while ago I deleted all of my EA data, including data for the Sims 4.  I then uninstalled it with Origin and tried redownloading so I could get new game fi...

Can you locate the game in your user folder and simply double click on it to open it? I always launch my game from Finder, not in Origin. Launching the game this way will automatically open Origin but can workaround the verifying files problem.

@Bluebellflora I usually did that too. The issue is now I can’t find The Sims 4 game anywhere. It used to be in my Applications. I didn’t even realize it wasn’t there until you brought it up earlier. It was there before all of this happened and I didn’t delete it or move it…

    @Bluebellflora So I was able to find the Sims 4 game in the user profile, but when I double-clicked on it this is what popped up.

    Oh exciting, never seen that error before! Does it happen after restarting your Mac or was it a one time thing?

    If you're having these constant issues I think the best thing would be to uninstall the game, via Origin if you can or manually if not by trashing the base game and Sims 4 Packs folder. Then resetting Origin and trashing it, then re-downloading Origin, installing it then downloading the game. You must make sure to accept and allow any permissions the app and OS ask for during the installation process.

    @Bluebellflora it’s a reoccurring problem. So I will uninstall the game and the Sims 4 Packs folder. I’ll let you know! Thank you🙂

    @Bluebellflora I’m having some issues with the resetting Origin. I found the article that gives you each step and downloaded the reset file, but once I open the .zip file and then the ResetOrigin file itself, nothing works or pops up…

    How it should work - After double clicking the .zip you should get a warning about opening a file downloaded from the internet but you can go ahead and ok that. Then double click on the unzipped file and it will start bouncing in the Dock as there will be a dialogue window asking for permission:

    Click on Reset Origin and it will run the script. If you can't see the permission window click on the bouncing file in the Dock.

    @Bluebellflora Does it usually take a while to open up? When I click on the bouncing file in the Dock it never opens. Maybe i’m being impatient and need to wait longer?

    No, it should be instant. Is it behind another window that you have open? If you are using a Trackpad do the 3-finger swipe up to show all open apps and you should see it. If it's not opening that is a different problem. Is your Mac user account an Administrator one or a Standard one?

    @Bluebellflora i’m still having issues with my game. Reset Origin never worked for me. I even tried to create a new user to see if I could access the game that way and still nothing. Any other advice you may have?

    Ok. Reset Origin manually - https://bluebellflora.com/how-to-uninstall-origin-on-a-mac/

    And if that really doesn't work I would uninstall Origin and the game and reinstall again. Make sure the game is installed either in your user account Applications folder or you could change the install location in Origin to your system Applications folder (this is where Origin is also installed to by default).

    @Bluebellflora I am eternally thankful for you. Manually resetting Origin did the trick. I’m finally downloading my game and everything is running smoothly again. You have no idea how grateful I am for you. Thank you for your patience, kindness, and help.
