UNLINK EA ACCOUNT FROM XBOX ACCOUNT VIA MICROSOFT

I am in the same boat.  I just got off a chat with an EA rep, but they were zero help.  While I do not blame them since they are restricted in how they can help, it was utterly futile in the end.  The account my xbox gamer tag is tied to has not been touched in years.  I tried the forgotten password option, but never received the email.  The rep tried to send an email to the account, but I never received that either.  The questions they asked to verify the account were a bit absurd too...  "What was your IP address when you last logged in?"  I moved out of that place 8 years ago.  Also "What was your last purchase on the account, and exact date?"  Who the hell remembers that?

I hope you have better luck than I did.  In the end this just made it so that I would ~never~ purchase an EA product for my system now.  EA should really learn to allow unlinking from accounts outside of their webpage, like on the systems we are playing on perhaps?

Hey @SilentStrikers we take account security very seriously and if you are unable to verify account ownership then our team will not be able to assist you in gaining access to or making any changes to an account.

I understand that, and I am not pointing any fingers for blame, however from our point of view, many of these accounts were made many years ago, so some of the answers are long forgotten.  In our defense, there should be an option to being able to unlink from the account the same way we are able to link up from within the games themselves.  We are obviously playing our gaming accounts to be able to get that far to be allowed to unlink.  It is ~highly~ frustrating on our end.

On a side note, after a week of dealing with this, I finally managed to remember the old password on the long forgotten account and change over my xbox account.

You take security more seriously than banks! I and many others can prove the accounts are ours if we had people that can actually see and read! Sadly you don’t and you’re not left with multiple accounts that will never be accessed again. 

The “alias” is what you use to log in to the Microsoft account. The problem is it’s supposed to leave the original address open to receive emails but mine didn’t so now I can get into the inbox and use the account but can not receive any emails to the original address which stupidly is what EA send the security emails to so even though I can prove I have access to the email account that is linked it doesn’t matter to them. I’ve changed over bank details with less problems.
