Could someone buy spore?

So there are a lot of discussions on here that essentially boil down to: "could there ever be a spore 2?" "no Maxis shut down so there can't be" but could a different studio theoretically buy the rights to spore and then make spore 2? I know that the rights are owned by EA but could someone just do that? I don't know much about the rules and buying and selling titles so I still hold hope that some studio could take the poor foster child of Spore away from the neglectful DLC monger.
