Crash site not spawning

I'm playing spore, and just got to the space stage. So, I go to the planet where you find a crash site, and when the camera normally zooms to the crash site, it just goes to black. So, I look at the map, I realize that the planet is actually Earth. It's got a different name, and the ground is a different color, but it's definitly Earth. After looking around, and my scanner not responding, I conclude that the crash site didn't spawn in. Any way to fix this? I really don't want to have to do the civilization stage on another planet all over again, and cheat in the previous stages.
