Creatures don't leave their village

Hi, 

I'm on the Tribal stage (Spore). Since my creatures evolved to this stage, they won't leave their village. They can neither attack other beings, nor befriend them, visit other villages or collect food. They are just standing around, slowly starving until all their food runs out. You can add babies or change their armour, but nothing else works. I tried to let them die on purpose to reset, I tried different creatures on different planets, but nothing worked. They are not armoured or wearing any of these tribal stage details and I haven't used any cheats.

I'm using a MacBook Air (completely new) and I installed all the latest updates that popped up.
