I spoke to support today and they say they have gotten a lot of requests for the comeback of spore so something might be happening
I recall customer support relaying that EA had "many plans" for the game back in 2015, so I'd take anything along those lines with a few hundred shakers' worth of salt.
That said, unless they turn it into a mobile thing, I'd gladly take anything new from the series - heck, I wouldn't complain if they did something ala Spore Hero and made a generally-unrelated game that has the Spore aesthetic, branding and creature editing system.
