Game Remake Suggestion: Bringing the PS2 Classic "BLACK" to PlayStation 5
Dear Electronic Arts Licensing and Development Teams,
I am writing to you today as a long-time fan of EA's portfolio, with a specific request that I know echoes the sentiments of a massive community of tactical shooter enthusiasts: a full, modern remake of the 2006 PlayStation 2 masterpiece, BLACK.
Developed by Criterion Games and published by EA, BLACK was an absolute milestone in the first-person shooter genre. At a time when hardware was heavily limited, the game pushed the boundaries of what was possible with its revolutionary environmental destruction, Hollywood-level gun sound design, and intense cinematic gunplay. It was frequently dubbed "The Burnout of shooters," and it fully earned that title.
With the current power of the PlayStation 5—including high-fidelity ray tracing, ultra-fast SSD loading, and advanced physics engines—the destructive environments that made BLACK so unique could finally reach their true potential. Furthermore, the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers are absolutely tailor-made for a game focused entirely on the visceral, heavy feel of weaponry.
Many iconic titles from that era are receiving highly successful, ground-up remakes for modern consoles, introducing legendary experiences to a new generation while honoring loyal fans. BLACK is a prime candidate for this treatment. A remake retaining the raw, linear, action-focused intensity of the original—free from modern live-service bloat—is exactly what the shooter market is missing right now.
Thank you for your time, your dedication to great gaming experiences, and your consideration of bringing back one of the greatest tactical shooters ever made.
