problem
why am i being asked to put a code in to play my game when i have an unstable connection so it won't let me put a code in when i eventually get it??

Could you please let us know which game you're referring to and on which platform you're playing? Also, if possible, please share a screenshot of the error message that you see when being prompted to insert the code.
I am trying to play Sims3 and unfortunately I have to play through the ea launcher.
Am I going to be able to play MY games that I have PAID for?

These codes help you keep your account secure. If you cannot receive them in time, you can set up different two-factor authentication methods, such as an authenticator app, or select to receive the codes via SMS. You can find further instructions here: How to enable two-factor authentication on your EA Account.
I did try for the sms but even that wouldn't work. I have been able to sign in again but I still do not think that I should be asked for all these authentication things when playing on my own pc
