Spore Launch Error on Steam

I purchased Spore the other day not any expansions just the game itself on steam. I installed the game and then clicked play and an error popped up saying "Configuration Script Failed [2000]" then I click OK and it goes to a black screen for a moment then starts loading and then crashes with a message saying "Could not find a needed package. The data directory is missing or corrupt. [1004]" So I tried to reinstall it still no luck. Then I went to steam support and tried to verify the cache and went into the files and did ...\Steam\Steamapps\common\spore\installers\DX9Redist\DXSETUP and rebooted. Still no luck so now i've come here in hope you can give me the answers.
