Corrpted savegame in RR3

After watching 24 ads when date rolled over to 20 November 2024, the game showed no more available ads.

Resetting advertising ID and restarting the game didn't help. Tried loading the game again after 5 hours; it crashes during the third blue splash screen (RR3 Real Racing screen). Uninstalled. After reinstall it loads a saved profile from 2 days ago.It works, but I don't want to lose 2 days of progress.

Restoring the latest save causes the game to crash again.

Obviously, the last savegame is corrupted, probably by the last ad played.

EA help seems to need time to solve this problem,  so I could lose out on the next date rollover bonuses and ads.

We need a way to restore the save preceding the last in such cases.

  • Update on this situation.

Since my previous post I've experienced a similar problem on two consecutive days while playing RR3 update 13.0.3, happening yesterday 21 and today 22 November 2024.

In both cases I was playing the Red Inferno event and had closed the game, to reload it shortly after. It gets stuck during loading at the blue R3 Real Racing screen. After a while the system shows a message saying: "Real Racing 3 is not responding. Do you want to close it?".

Same as in the case of my previous post, clearing the cache, restarting the device and then reloading the game do not solve the problem. Clearing game data in the app settings does, but that requires a reinstall afterwards. After reinstalling, restoring the saved game will once again cause it to crash and not finish loading.

Here's an odd detail: once this problem occurs on my main device (smartphone), the game will also fail to load on my backup device (old wifi tablet), even though it had not been in use and RR3 was not active during the preceding hours.

The only way I have been able to bypass the problem last night, was by deleting game data on both devices, reinstall, decline the Profile Restore and then log out of my account on both devices. Then use the 2nd device to restore the "unlinked" cloud save, then login and run a race to upload that profile so it can be downloaded on my phone (This didn't work on the main device because the linked and unlinked saves are identical there).

Right now, it appears that even that elaborate procedure doesn't work anymore. As soon as I've restored a saved profile, it proceeds to download some race assets which crash the whole thing again. And there is no option to decline that download: tapping the close button in the upper right part of that screen has no effect.

With this in mind, I now believe that this is a bug in the latest release.

  • 2nd update:
The same bug has struck me again, this morning 8 December 2024.
Watching ads for the daily 20 gold, the game froze up. Not suspecting anything odd, I exited the game and restarted it. Got stuck on the loading screen, followed by a "Real Racing 3 is not responding" message shortly after. This is the 3rd time in the last 3 weeks.
After last time I reinstalled the game and played a bunch of the standard offline races until I could upload a savegame with sufficient progress to overwrite the previous one. I avoided restarting Red Inferno. Started the WRC Hyundai limited series event from the hub yesterday. So that was in progress when the problem started occurring again. In the previous case, Red Inferno was in progress when the problem occurred. I'm seeing a pattern here and now I don't know if it will also occur if I start the Bolide flashback event from the hub, especially since I don't have that car. I have not experienced the problem doing the F1 events from the hub, probably because I was using F1 2024 cars that I had already obtained previously.
I've seen numerous reports on this bug posted on this forum, none of them appear to have been resolved.
This latest occurrence of the glitch is costing me 130 GC in lost bonus resources.
Really destroys the sense of enjoyment I used to have in RR3.
  • 3rd Update:
13 December 2024 I managed to complete the Hyundai i20N Hybrid LTS (after completing the Ferrari F8 Tributo flashback event without crashing issues) and saved my progress in both my linked account and unlinked/guest account on my tablet.
I had assumed that once the Hyundai car was in my collection, it wouldn't cause any crashes. Turns out that assumption was wrong.
RR3 stopped responding within an hour after uploading to the cloud, and having that car now in all saved profiles means that I have no restoreable version to reactivate with.
On a sidenote: I had successfully installed the game on an iPad running IOS 17 the day before and it's currently also refusing to load with the latest saved profile, confirming that this problem is application, not device related.
Conclusion is that the new cars in this update are equipped with a bug that crashes the game, then requires an additional download (which seems to vary in size between 1 and 8 MB) each time the game is reinstalled and the saved profile restored.
That is virus like activity i.m.h.o. and definitely not a corrupted saved game issue.
I sure hope some developers can be made aware of this serious bug and fix it a.s.a.p.
