DiRT 5 - Patch Notes

PATCH 3.03 (PC)

Released on March 9, 2021. This patch only addresses a minor technical matter and no changes in game performance should be expected. Players are advised to ensure they have updated to their latest drivers and are using the latest version of Windows to ensure optimum game performance. 

PATCH 4.01

Released for Steam and PlayStation on March 30, 2021, and for Xbox and Windows Store on April 7, 2021. 

TECHNICAL UPDATES

• PS5: Further fixes and optimisations that aim to improve frame rate performance and consistency  
• Fixed instances of camera acting erratically during events, after exiting photo mode or looking behind the car  
• Xbox One: Further fixes for instances of crashes  
• Fix for instances of freezes/soft locks at the end of Career events on PS5 and Steam  

UPDATE 4.00

Released on March 30, 2021 for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Windows Store. 

CONTENT AND FEATURES  

• Uproar Content Pack (separate pack, included in Amplified Edition and Year One Upgrade versions  
• After Dark Playgrounds Update – 20+ new items available to use in Create mode, including new loop-de-loop  
• Night-time conditions for Arizona and Italy Playgrounds  
• New official liveries: BMW M1 Procar, SUBARU WRX STI RX Supercar, SUBARU Impreza S4 Rally, and MITSUBISHI LANCER EVOLUTION VI.   
• Private lobbies: Online play includes private lobbies option for up to eight players via invite, with custom race event options   
• Verified Creators: Icon added to Playgrounds creations designed by selected top creators   
• New menu added to view profile statistics, including total mileage driven  
• Steam and Windows Store: Shadows cast by cars from the sun are now ray traced shadows  

TECHNICAL UPDATES  

• Fixed instances of game crashes occurring when attempting to sign into a profile already assigned to another controller/input  
• Scrolling statistics when waiting for an Online multiplayer now show the user’s total distance driven in miles, not metres  
• Xbox: Fixed instances of crashes during the ‘Lion’s Head’ Rally Raid Career event   
• Fix for some instances of game freeze/soft lock at the end of event   
• Fixed mute options for other players in Online public events   
• PC: Fixed instances of multiple Fanatec wheels generating throttle and brake inputs when idle  
• Button mappings on multiple Fanatec wheels have been resolved and refined, including the CSW Elite series and Universal Hub  
• PC: Resolved issue where operating photo mode with a keyboard would cause the camera to move  
• PlayStation: Fix for reports of frame rate drops when using Thrustmaster T-150 wheel   
• Playgrounds: Resolved occurrences of leaderboards not loading, triggering a network error  
• Split-screen: Mini-map will now display correctly in split-screen events   
• Xbox: Fix for shifter pattern on Logitech G920  
• Xbox: Fix for instances of graphical corruptions when entering photo mode during an event  
• PC: Fixed occurrences of driver animations not triggering as designed on a number of PC configs and graphics cards  

HOTFIX (PS5/4, PC, XBOX)

Released on April 6, 2021. This hotfix resolves the error of some or all of the iconic liveries added in 4.00 not being free to all players. All DIRT 5 players will be able to use the new iconic liveries once this hotfix is installed.

UPDATE 4.03/RED BULL REVOLUTION UPDATE 

Scheduled to release on May 11, 2021 for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Windows Store. 

CONTENT & FEATURES

• Official Red Bull liveries – eight liveries for multiple cars
• Cross-platform matchmaking – available in Online Public lobbies for races and party events
• Red Bull arch added to Playgrounds Create mode
• Wet and stormy weather conditions added for all Playgrounds locations
• Ghost lap time options added to Time Trial and Gate Crasher events
• Stats stickers – new Driver Card stickers available for reaching progression milestones

TECHNICAL CHANGES

• Chinese and Korean Localisation added
• Further fixes for crashes on Xbox One/Xbox One S, particularly on Ice Breaker events
• Fixed crash occurrences when scrolling through rewards for specific sponsors
• Fixed instances of crashes when attempting to select ‘Wireless Controller’ from the Input Settings
• Fixed crash occurrence when backing out of Photo Mode shortly after changing weather conditions
• Further checks and balances for currency payouts across multiple game modes
• PC: Fixed instances of driver animations not appearing in cockpit cam
• PC: Fixed instances of raytraced shadows appearing incorrectly
• PC: Further fixes for instances of crashes, particularly when using a Nvidia 3090 graphics card
• PC: Fanatec Clubsport v2.5 no longer defaults to a pedal preset and saves user-selected data
• PC: User-selected wheel rim presets are now stored in save data, meaning players no longer have to reselect a preset every time they boot the game
• The ‘Up’ and ‘Down’ controls on a d-pad are no longer locked to changing camera view, and can be bound to different actions by the player
• Xbox One: Fixed crash occurrence when signing out of a player profile whilst in Playgrounds
• PS5: Fixed crash occurrence in Playgrounds when a player deletes their only published Playground
• PS5: Fixed softlock occurrences when selecting ‘Show More’ in Playgrounds Discover mode
• Various visual and technical tweaks and updates across the board to improve game performance and quality of life

PATCH 4.05

Released on June 15, 2021 for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Windows Store. This patch addressed minor technical matters and added an in-game notifications system for news and updates.

PATCH 5.00

Released on July 20 for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Windows Store. 

CONTENT AND FEATURES

• Super Size Content Pack: Four new cars with multiple liveries (Bentley Continental GT Ice Race Car, Rezvani Tank, Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport Baja Concept, Armada Rock Racer), 27 Career events, two Career Sponsors (Toblerone, Power Maxed), additional customisation items*
• Parts Unknown Playgrounds Update: New set of space-themed items in Create mode and new location: Papoose Lake
• Two Brazil tracks added – Sao Conrado and Rio Seafront – with additional reverse variants

TECHNICAL CHANGES

• Online: Public playlists for both Race and Party modes updated with new events
• PS4/5: Implemented ability to carry all account save progress between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5
• PS5: Added user control of rumble intensity through DualSense controller
• 40 additional player Levels added, bringing the maximum possible player Level to 200, with an unlockable item when reaching Level 200
• 12 community-taken Photo Mode shots added into the game as loading screens
• Photo Mode: Fix for instances of points of interest being blurry when far away, such as the Milky Way in Arizona 
• When using a wheel, Input Settings now disable the ‘Trigger Feedback’ slider
• Further fixes for instances of ‘Spare Some Change for Gas?’ Achievement/Trophy not unlocking at the correct time.
• Fix implemented for the Ghosts setup and display when the player sets the fastest global time
• Removed options for user input whilst loading into a private lobby, which can cause players to move to an empty lobby
• General performance and technical updates across the board to improve game performance and quality of life

*Super Size Content Pack is included in DIRT 5 Amplified Edition and Year One Edition, and the pack can be purchased separately from online stores.

PATCH 5.01 

Released on July 20 for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Windows Store. This minor patch addresses small technical areas across the board to improve overall user experience.

UPDATE 6.00

Released on Xbox, PlayStation and PC on September 1, 2021.

• Wild Spirits Content Pack: Two new cars (Ford Bronco Wildtrak 2021, ProDrive Hunter), 25 new Career events, two new Player Sponsors, more liveries and additional customisation items. This pack is included in DIRT 5 Amplified/Year One Edition or purchasable separately
• Two new Morocco Stampede circuits, Ait Ojana and Tinghir, with reverse variants 
• Five additional iconic liveries
• Overhauled opponent driver AI to increase challenge and excitement all modes and scenarios  
• New Rewards Multiplier tied to chosen vehicle rankings. Players will receive greater rewards for succeeding in events with lower-ranked cars within a vehicle class. 
• Resolved instances of irregular object snapping in Playgrounds at Papoose Lake  
• Resolved instances of missing ambient audio for multiple Playground arenas on objects  
• Fixed environment bug allowing players on Greece events to fall out of the world  
• Fixed instance of incorrect label for second place in Playgrounds Weekly Challenges  
• Resolved issue causing players to be reset to track incorrectly on Brazil’s Rio Seafront, Turn 8

UPDATE 6.02

Released on September 30, 2021 on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. 

NEW CONTENT

• ‘Tricks N Treats’ Halloween Playgrounds pack: Free Playgrounds item set of Halloween-themed objects for use in Gate Crasher, Smash Attack, and Gymkhana. Available from October 1, 2021.

TECHNICAL FIXES & CHANGES

• New tweaks to general light, shade, and reflections will be noticeable across every location and scenario, particularly in night-time events, leading to more realistic and natural lighting
• Steam: Fixed issue causing online cross-platform matchmaking to not work on Steam
• Xbox One: Fixed issue causing audio distortion in rare occurrences
• PS5: Resolved issue of audio cutting out when the game is started with a racing wheel connected
• Xbox: Resolved instances of crashes when users sign out of their profile
• Fixed instances of crashes when viewing a player card and playing offline
• Career objectives will now be shown in the post-race rewards menus appropriately
• PC: When using Fanatec pedals connected directly to the PC, the pedals will now be detected and usable
• Fixed issue causing a player’s Playgrounds Weekly Challenge position to not show if they do not have rewards available
