Online Bug with multiple races

Whenever my friend and I play career missions together, After the first race I get stuck in a screen that says "Waiting for host". After about 2 minutes the race starts and the entire game for him is bugged and unplayable. The only thing I notice on my end is that the NPC cars are Ghosted (you can drive right through), but for him the game is unplayable. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, What can he do to fix the issue. Thanks for your time
