Now I see it's been around for at least a year and across the board EA support has been giving only thoughts and prayers...
Sad state of affairs!

Try this guys. Posted from a similar thread.
Awesome Syclone! Great to hear bro! Hopefully you didn’t lose too much progress. I myself was really worried about an erase and reinstall as I’ve not backed my game up to the iCloud in a while and have been playing for over 7 years myself, I’m at level 287. My game was having exactly the same issue, it would download a few MB and then stall and give me a pop up window stating “Could not download game files and to check my internet connection” Yeah, big help there, right.
I finally got hold of real good EA tech support guy, who gave me the correct info and it worked friend! I am going to post the chat log here, so if anyone else is having this issue, this information will hopefully help and alleviate the frustration of updates not correctly installing, along with the help you received too.
( 33s ) Abhijeet: Hi there! I hope you're having a good day. How may I help you today?( 1m 21s ) Mike: Hi, my Real Racing 3 game is stuck on a 56MB download and will not finish.( 1m 41s ) Mike: My name is Mike( 2m 10s ) Abhijeet: No issues! You are at the right place, I'm gonna try my best to help you out today.( 2m 16s ) Mike: It has been like this for 2 days now( 2m 28s ) Abhijeet: May I know on which device are you facing this issue( 3m 54s ) Mike: I was able to update to the latest version 13.0 but then it said the game needed to download an additional 56mb and thats when the issue started.( 4m 18s ) Mike: Apple iPad( 5m 27s ) Abhijeet: iOS DevicesTry going to your device Settings > iTunes & App Store and sign out of your Apple ID, then reboot your device and go back to these settings to sign back in. This should force the updates on your device to reset. If your download of the additional content is stuck at 0.0 kb/s please try the following steps to complete the download:Update to latest OS versionTurn wifi off/onForce close and re-open the gameTurn off “auto-lock” options in device settingsDo not use any other apps throughout the download processEnsure the game stays on during the download process.
It worked! I can’t believe how simple it was. Once I signed out of my Apple ID, and did a reboot and signed back in, it did exactly what the tech Abhijeet said it would, force the updates on my device to reset. I had tried everything but signing out of my Apple ID, thinking I needed to be signed in in order to try and get the update to work. The reset worked. My iPad downloaded all RR3 game files and the game immediately loaded! Yes! I signed back into my Apple ID, turned game mode back on and was finally racing again!
Hope this information helps, and thanks for responding to my post Syclone. We racers gotta stick together to solve these issues as we all have a lot of time invested in this game. And thanks again to Abjijeet for his kind help. I know we give these EA tech support guys some grief sometimes over slow responses and support that doesn’t help, but you’re right, you just gotta find the right guy or gal to get the help we need.Best of luck and happy racing everybody! Cheers! 😁🚗☮️- 8 months ago@Mikejamm Also adding, you guys on Android systems, might be able to use the same technique. I’m not sure how Android works with backups and accounts like the way ICloud is. But I feel like if you completely sign out of your account, reboot your Android device and then download the updated game files, then sign back in, you should be good to go. I was also told by longtime player ME7, that this will clear the corrupted files and allow a clean update. Hope this helps. Good luck everybody. Keep racing!
