Hi,
I've experienced a similar issue, was contemplating uninstalling GRID legends and trying a reinstall, but then I seen your post. I posted the following at #127 on another EA crashes thread:
My XBox is installing an update now. I had given up hope of playing Grid Legends for a while with my steering wheel after reporting the issue as requested within the crashes template.
Going to test the Grid Legends - Steering Wheel Combo post that to see if the console update resolves the issue.
I did a little research and there are suggestions the USB Driver could have been corrupted on the console as a result of using a wired controller as opposed to the steering wheel.
I'm loathe to do a factory reset on the console - the game updates themselves take forever to download. Grid Legends has a large update which is now installing, hopefully that'll iron out the steering wheel calibrating fine, giving every indication via the Game Test GUI pre race that it is ok, then failing to steer the car during the race.
Post XBOX update AND Grid Legends Latest update.
7 minutes to load Grid Legends 1st time. Tried racing in career mode - problem reported that steering wheel fails to provide input to the game persists.
Tried to quit. Took 1-2 mins to navigate back to UI. Tried to choose options - Game crashed an XBox powered Off without user interaction.
Restarted XBox, load time still excessive > 8 minutes. Navigated straight to Controls, Steering wheel input is being detected within Controls UI and shows deflection to left and right, following steering wheel input.
Tried different, ginetta cup within rookie cup: Seemed to work very briefly, before the XBox 'Choose a plan that's right for you' was presented on the screen?
Has Grid Legends got some tie-in with the XBox Store which is corrupting the executable?
Pressed B to get back to game whereby was eliminated. Restarted Race - No Steering Input being fed to the car despite it being displayed within the Controls Section of the UI that it is being detected. As the car accelerates and crashes into the barriers - force feedback works a treat - just a shame the game ignores the input from the sterring wheel x-axis, despite it being detected within the Controls UI test.
Inclined to raise a separate Fault for this to be addressed as a stand alone incident.
Separate GRID Day One Edition (XBOX ONE X ENHANCED) Version loaded
Steering Wheel works fine with an earlier Grid product, Not the Legends variant as reported above. Looks like I won't be using Legends until this is resolved. Grid Legends was a product I was happy to pay full price for, instead of waiting for a second hand copy. I appreciate the complexities of such a complex product, I hope Codemasters can resolve the issue soon.

I also created a case with Thrustmaster support and heard back from the yesterday…
”We thank you for contacting Thrustmaster Technical Support.
We are aware of an issue with the latest Xbox update. Xbox is also aware of the bug that is currently impacting multiple partners and customers around the various performance issues that occur when a wheel hub is connected. The team is actively investigating and has assigned this to be a high priority issue. A fix is on the way shortly to remediate this.
You can confirm that the issue comes from the Xbox by testing your wheel on the control panel of a Windows PC or by testing on several games (as it doesn't seem to affect all of them).”Looks like Microsoft is working on fixing thes regression:-(
Hope this helps others, my buddy and I cleared our save file as one of the tests to try and trouble shoot this issue:-(. Hopefully this stops others from doing this.
@EA, are you also working with Microsoft on this issue?
Thanks

I can confirm the issue has been fixed with a Microsoft Console update this evening. No further update of the Grid Legends software was required to resolve the issue, which I described in some detail.
In all, great and timely support between Codemasters / EA & microsoft. 🙂
