Ball Position on Tee

OK, so why is it not possible to position your ball left or right on the tee, as it is always locked to the center position.  What if you want to aim to either side?  Or, more importantly, what if there is a nearby tree branch in your tee shot's path (because of wind, etc.)?  The last golf game I recall offering this adjustment was LINKS and that was 20 or 25 years ago.  Why Not?

  • Oooh, I like it...and I remember doing this back in the day. Good suggestion.  I thought Tiger Woods golf back in the day did this as well.

I know this game offers shot types, but back then they use to let you adjust the height of the ball on the tee too, remember that? Somewhat similar to the shot types, I guess.

I agree this flexibility is a key part of real golf missing from modern games. I guess it's just easier not to offer this.

For what it's worth my first golf game was Microprose Golf. This included the ability to move tee position, change the height of the ball and also where the ball was in the players stance. And probably lots of other things I've long since forgotten!

@Ultrasonic_77 I guess they somewhat believe the simplified this just offering shot types...although those other adjustments can be a tad more precise at times. I remember though that the flight indicator would adjust as you altered those positions so you still had some accuracy.
