Changes to Spin?
I was playing the daily tour pro tournament and my ball seemed to be spinning more than normal. greens were listed as tournament conditions. I hit a finese shot to a significantly downhill pin an...

I think I have something embarrassing to ask. Have I been putting the opposite spin on the ball all this time? Or maybe I'm just remembering wrong how to play after not playing for so many years? But I thought when you put "topspin" on the ball, it flies lower and rolls farther. And when you put "backspin" on the ball it flies higher and shorter. In this game it seems to be the opposite or am I just tripping?
For example i remember in tw08, cutting under the ball for more back spin and higher loft. But just looking at the arc which I never paid attention to the past couple weeks. Its actually going lower to the ground and so no wonder I've been hitting line drives skipping off the green lmao. omg....haha.
So just to clarify. If I put the cursor under the bull for what they call low. Shouldn't that be backspin and make the ball pop up? And when i put the cursor at the top of the ball, it should line drive out low and skip across the ground with a high forward spin. Am I just drunk right now? Someone help lol.

@RichACyou are right it is backwards, but moving the dot up is a "high shot" and down is a low shot. It does not put extra spin on the ball just gives a higher or lower arc. High shot will stop sooner just based on the steeper descent angle. To "spin" the ball in arcade mode you can tap the LB button and whichever way you want to ball to spin
how do you do it in pro mode?

It should be the same as Arcade. I don't personally choose to use post-shot spin though as it's just such a bizarre concept to me.
On the high/low points above I'm not quite as certain as @jitter77 that there is zero impact on spin but the end result is the same: you shot-shape high if you want to reduce how much the ball will tend to run on and low if you want to increase it. Using low in combination with a wedge will reduce the tendency to spin back. Club choice has far more impact though, with a finesse high iron often being a better option, also noting that finesse shots run on more / spin back less than approach.

I see it in the controller settings. It shows up as an option on the bottom right of the screen. But it does nothing. If I tap LB, or hold it down while moving the left analog stick its making no difference to a shot. Are you sure this is not something only available in arcade mode? ugh.....i'm trying to stay positive here. But between the long drive challenges, and not knowing how to put spin on the ball. I'm starting to get frustrated.
