Current roster and Career

I've always wondered why with PGA games you can't control a career of a actual player, I understand Golf is an individual sport, but it's literally the only game you can't control someone other than yourself for a career.

Taking the reins of a current player and trying to add to their wins/majors/ and FedEx Cup championships would be awesome. Of course that means EA needs to add players to the current roster- badly. It sounds like they'll have a leg up next year when LIV players can play on tour again. I assume some pros signed with 2k so they wont be added, ie. Rickie, Colin, Will, but can we look at:

Rory

Homa

Hovland

Fleetwood

Even Daly?

Lastly if we're are sticking to your created player for career only, then it should be very easy to make it a story, Ala NBA 2k, and MLB The Show. EA is off to a good start with the majors kind of being their own little storyline, but make the created player a story either out of college (now with NIL being in play, bring in college memories like NBA 2k did) qschool and Korn Ferry are decent representated already on here, but alot can be expanded. The difficulties of missing cuts, and bordering on not earning your card and earning the sponsorships from the companies they have on board already.

And the best part, building those rivalries with the real players and ones EA could create, and then taking that to another level with actual ties, that end in playoffs, that actually have intensity with the crowd  amd announcer reaction and such. Sorry so long, but I see what this game could be

  • They need to add more classic players aswell seeing as Tom Watson Gary player and jack Nicklaus Are already on the game why can’t they make them playable

  • I agree with this. Completely don't understand why there is no career RPG framework in place for this game.

    There should be two options

    1. New Career - your created player
    2. Continue Career - existing PGA pro in the game

I remember making a post way back on the forums for TW about this too.

Career mode should be pretty deep where everything you do impacts performance or image on tour.

For example, not all players have the same accommodations, or some have to qualify for events, etc. Why wouldn't they have it based on your bank account. Travel and accommodations can impact attributes. So a rookie that decides to drive to the tournament and stay in a standard hotel will have a negative impact on attributes during the event. Not saying you can't play well, but maybe the landing zones for shots gets a little bigger on the weekend because you're fatigued. As you upgrade your accommodations, the landing zones stay consistent because you're not tired.

I also don't get why guys like Rory aren't even listed on leaderboards. The guy was the title athlete for the last game and now he's not there. Must have been a licensing issue. Hopefully those guys are inserted in a future patch.

@Iceman11 I like your idea of accommodations impact. The better the accommodations, the more the accuracy. AEW Fight Forever has implemented something similar where mood is a factor in your matches and impacts fatigue and even workout. Going for sightseeing can improve the mood. It would be nice for EA to implement this where an improvement in accommodations reduces the RNG effect.

I also like your idea of continuing an existing golfer’s career.

In terms of roster, it would be awesome to add more players like Rory, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Greg Norman, Arnold Palmer, Annika Sorenstam, Nancy Lopez, Lee Trevino, and Chi Chi Rodriguez. Tiger Woods would be so awesome, but is unlikely because he is endorsing 2K23. Star Wars Battlefront 2, NBA Live 19 and FIFA 21 are examples of EA games where roster is expanded. Dua Lipa is an expanded character in FIFA 21.
