Dolby Vision HDR on LG OLED TV's - Black Screen

Product: EA SPORTS PGA TOUR
Platform:PC
Summarize your bug On launch the game tries to load into Dolby Vision HDR mode which will result in a black screen with no video on LG Oled Tv's. This has happened for the last 3 years on every Madden PC game so it seems to be an issue with the engine.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Playtest with an LG OLED TV.
What happens when the bug occurs? Black Screen. I get audio just no video.
What do you expect to see? The Game

Like I mentioned earlier this has happened on every Madden release on PC so it's a common occurrence.  Usually takes a day or so for the patch to fix the issue.  I'm not sure if the game should be selecting HDR instead of Dolby vision or it's setting the resolution to one that is not working on the LG Oled Tv's.

  • A quick fix is to edit this file

C:\Users\....\Documents\PGA TOUR\shared_data\cache\2250885772\hardwareSettings.json with Notepad and change HDR to False.   The folder name after the cache folder may be a different number so just choose the folder that is all numbers and you should see the hardwaresettings file.  Make sure you don't turn HDR on in the menus afterwards or the issue will happen again.  Don't ask how I know.

@bac3a3a75d90804a Looks like the latest update completely removed the HDR option in the settings. Probably their quick fix while they figure it out.
  • I was able to "stream" it to my laptop and get through the beginning crash to turn it off in the game settings. Works well enough to shoot 84 at Whistling Straits 🙂

  • Is this a joke? How do you not know this is a widespread issue?

Please don't phrase it like that. The issue is 100% EA.

@CBlan1224 “Widespread” is a term used for those with similar circumstance. That being DOLBY VISION OLED TVs. Which is the absolute best way to play on PC. Just sayin’. And we ALL experience this.

@Kleinbird36 My reply was to EA Barry for telling people to update their drivers like it was going to fix something. Of course, since this is an EA forum, you can't tell who I was even talking to

@CBlan1224 My bad bro. Agreed. They always tell us to “update drivers and reinstall Windows” 🤣🤣🤣

@Kleinbird36 it is mindblowing how it will be out for a week by the time we can even launch the game.
Watch madden 24 be previous gen again..
I've been getting annual sports games for a long time, but I haven't played any in a few years.

How is this happening on multiple EA titles in a row..like they're not aware we can't use Dolby vision on desktop.. I feel like if they actually showed the PC community some love, they would be rewarded, but no one is going to buy their garbage when it's either based on an engine from 2012 or just flat out doesn't work on the most popular gaming displays out there.

@CBlan1224 Preach brother. I’ve been so excited for this release like all of us. It’s pathetic that EA doesn’t catch these “bugs” before release.
  • I did this, then they patched it and it supposedly works now. I've tried to reset back, and delete the profile in CRU to allow Dolby vision to activate when the game starts and no luck.

How do I get this reset now?
