Elevation Not Affecting Shot Direction

I think this has been discussed from the time the game first released but why does the game show how many degrees of lie elevation there is when it doesn't impact the flight of the ball in the game? Is it broken or never intended to work?

If they made lie elevation actually affect the direction of a shot, it would instantly make the game more challenging (for those that play on the more difficult settings) and give us more of the challenge we want. It would at least make it work properly.

What's the point of lie elevation in this game?/??

  • To be honest I have always wondered how much lie angle affects the shape of the shot. I know there is a setting that is supposed to enable it, but I swear it does nothing. But then with all the RNG who knows...

Since the game is so ridiculously easy... when I do play it is without skill points so it is hard to know where my ability to hit a good shot starts and where RNG ends.

This game should never have incorporated as much RNG as it did. It should always have rewarded a well executed shot, and skill points should have just made allowances for shots not quite perfect.

Where skill points could add more club head speed, allowing for more distance with clubs and more spin. Or more control to hit more fade/draw, add more loft/deloft. They could have given you all the shot types from the start... they would just be less effective.

They instead turned it into a really poor RPG game with powerups.

Sorry I got sidetracked... I have no idea if elevation does much in this game. It is pretty prominent in 2K though. To me RNG and skill points are king in EA PGA Tour.

I didn't see much difference, it sure wasn't even close of TW14 at Augusta. It looks broken to me.

Lie doesn't have an effect in Arcade mode but thought it did in others. What are you using?

  • I’m assuming by “lie elevation” you are referring to situations where the ball is above or below the feet which results in either a natural draw or fade shot pattern?

if so,  lie elevation DOES work properly from the standpoint that the ball physics do what they are supposed to; HOWEVER, in modes that have the shot preview (everything but SIM), the amount of draw/fade appears to be baked into the preview, thus negating the need for the golfer to make additional adjustments.

I would have to agree with you. I haven't notice it effecting my shots, but then since the RNG sort of takes over everything... who knows.

But it does seem the game doesn't care.

Could be.  I only play SIM when it’s the free daily cause I hate the putting so I’m going off memory.

  • Ball above or below my feet has an impact for me, but not upslope or downslope lies
