Weirdly for me on PS5 I had the opposite problem. Changing either the left or right glove always resulted in the glove being shown on the player's left hand.
(Unless the initial post was referring to left and right as looking at the screen, rather than the player character's left and right?)
Just tried this again and now it's working as it should. Weird. I'm sure it wasn't this morning!
