@IXOYE56Yes it is capable it runs 1440p@120 the only difference is the series X can do 4k@120 so don’t give it the whole Xbox series S can’t support it when it can and EA are just being lazy again. You are wildly oversimplifying a much more complex situation there I'm afraid. It's not just a simple resolution/frame rate question, but how complex what is being rendered is e.g. number of assets on screen, what is changing and what is static, lighting etc. I'm not sure any XSX games actually run at 4k/120 btw. They're rare if they exist. I play the F1 games at 120 Hz (on PS5) but the resolution and image complexity has to be reduced to achieve this.

However this has to be the worst graphical downgrade I’ve ever seen on console going to 60fps
This is the first time ever I prefer 30fps
I can barely read the putt lines on 60fps
To be fair to the devs, you could argue this vindicates their initial decision not to provide this mode.
Personally I prefer the performance mode and quality mode feels broken in comparison to me, but I seem to be in the minority feeling this way going by this thread.
What? No performance mode for the series S why? Will it be coming out at a later date, or not at all? The series S can definitely handle that. EA let us series S owners know!!!
- @Ultrasonic_77 You make a fair staement. And I support your opinion, though I don't find enough of a gain in the performance mode to justify playing with the loss of definition in the graphics. The game looks really fuzzy on my PS5 in performance mode. And I am all about gameplay over graphics as a rule.
My disappointment is that I thought this was a rather small concern. I for one always argued it wasn't that big an issue for a golf game and the call for 60 fps seem to go quiet after the games release.
I just feel there are much bigger issues they could have dedicated time too instead, like multiplayer, Country Clubs... gameplay mechanics, ball physics... cup physics...assorted bugs. The ones that bother me still are penalties where the ball doesn't go in the hazard or the ball gets placed where it didn't initially stop. Oh and not marking anywhere in the game where some hazards are... showing these areas in the overhead map would have been nice.
I feel these issues are driving players away from thd game more than 60 fps. It's a matter of priorities and I think some things are out of order in their importance.

There have been people asking here about when it would arrive too. My personal take has always been that while the game was undeniably playable at 30 fps I thought I'd enjoy it more at 60 fps, and I do. And just like with 2k, switching between 30 and 60 fps back-to-back just makes 30 fps look horrible in comparison to me.
I do agree that this was not necessarily the biggest issue to resolve for those already playing the game, with changes to multiplayer probably being the biggest thing most would want to see I'd say. The tournaments system also now need its rewards rebalancing as the mode is dying in it's current state. Which is really sad as it was my favourite mode at launch.
Just to show at least one other person is enjoying performance mode:
Thank goodness I'm not the only one. It seems the trend at the moment is to make the Series S sound like a last gen console. Surely it can manage 60 fps.
I just hope that EA do us proud and give us the patch too.
- @Ultrasonic_77 I'm not a big fan of any of the content providers. They all have their own agendas and I feel they are all a bit fanboys. They all straddle the line between both games, and to be honest I seldom agree with their points.
But we are all entitled to our own opinions. I am sure most people disagree with me more than agree.
I am hoping we are all here just to voice our opinions, to create food for thought and not to try and convince others we are right.

This could just be a limitation of the hardware.

Certainly not to somehow prove any sort of point - this is all just a discussion of personal preference not being 'right' 🙂.
