Patch 6.0 Discussion
I thought I pop back in here after a long time being away as I saw a new patch downloading on Steam. So cool, a new course. I'm wondering though, they start the patch notes with this: --- https://w...
@7AnimalMotherThere was a post on Facebook asking people to pick 2K or EA PGA... I see the merits of both. EA is a more polished package but it is a game. 2K offers a much better golfing experience in my opinion closer to the sim some of us are looking for.
If 2K had the same swing speed as EA I don't think I would be playing the EA game. I can deal with the drop in graphic fidelity. I personally think it is serviceable, and 2K offers so many more options you can toggle on or off along with more playing styles... and much more complete multiplayer environment and community based content.
After going back to 2K I realized how much I really hate their swing speed... I would much rather play one of their 2K2019 or older editions.
But you are right... entertainment wise we all probably get our money out of the game. But isn't that true of pretty much every video game?
@ELF014I own both 2K and this one. I have been playing 2k versions almost exclusively for the last several years as there was no recent EA option. Both games have pros/* to them. If you could cobble the two together, you would have a pretty gret game. For me, I do prefer EA, mostly because I'm a sucker for a beautiful view. I also -DESPISE- 2Ks downswing timing mechanic. Sure you can turn it off, but public multiplayer requires it AND to make things worse your handicap thats established doesnt account for when you have it on/off.
@7AnimalMotherI guess this the case for a lot of us. I have been playing The Golf Club since the original game dropped and all it's iterations since. It was what got me back into video games. I only purchase physical versions of the game and this golf game basically stayed in my PS until each successive release.
However... I like the timing aspect of the swing. I just don't like how timing was implemented... I never thought you should be able to exploit hitting a fast timed swing further than 100%, when a late one is a high short fade.
When we play online I try to convince people to used the Legendary setting with no aids of any sort. I enjoy the grind of just making par.
But I agree taking parts from both games, and tweaking a few additional issues would make for a great game.
Which is why I am pretty disappointed with EA. They had all this information in front of them to improve on existing and past games... and they really came up with a pretty weak effort overall.
Other than graphical fidelity it doesn't even match up well with a Tiger Woods game from 2014.
And I am saying this from a place where I am trying hard to like the current EA PGA release.
