Patch 7.0 update discussion
Okay so it took me about 60 seconds to download and install the patch on my PS5.
It's been over a month since I last played. I booted up the game using my stock character (no skill points or specs...
@Matsocanne I fully agree this is less about creating a Ryder Cup experience as it is to tie in the fact that they have included 2 new types of gameplay.
They can put as much lipstick on it as they want. If you have an objective viewpoint, it is pretty obvious this is a really weak effort.
EA has not embraced what the Ryder Cup event is all about. They basically included two new styles of play, a new course and added some assets belonging to the Ryder Cup brand.
Where is the feel of being on a team in a four day event, where ever match is important. Where you plan your matchups, and follow along with your teammates scores as you play.
EA may have purchased the brand... but nothing about this feels like the event itself.

@ELF014The problem is that they really seems to be happy about this update like it's the BIG thing. But I don't think they really read all the community opinion about it.
They seem to be happy about everything they have done in these videos they have put out with a certain content provder.. Who by the way I can't stand, he seems pretty full of himself.
Not only that but this content provider just feeds into EA...it seems pretty obvious that he doesn't want to lose his standing with them and lose any content or gifts. Like potential future trips to events.
But I agree, the developers appear to be working within a bubble of delusion, of rainbows, butterflies and unicorns.
The Community Managers here are saying comments are being forwarded to them... and if so I am guessing they feel we are just a small group of malcontents.
If it were me, any community as long as it doesn't cater to a specific mindset like a political group... would be a pretty good representation of those I am catering too. It takes a pretty big ego to ignore the screaming voices in the choir and continue moving forward thinking you know what is best. Especially when each move you make causes the choir to get louder.
Well except for that content provider who is drinking the koolaid.
To me, it looks like the first step of something bigger in the future. It was obvious from the start they didn't have enough license Euro pros in the game. I don't ever remember to have seen Rory on a leaderboard, like he didn't want to be in the game in any part.
@Katybee_1313Rory's name and likeness has not been used in any PGA Tour licensed game since EA's last game that put him on the cover. I think he's got a different deal with a VR game or something now.

This is a good point... but did Rory not want to be part of the game or did EA not want him? EA made him the focus of their last jump into the series and it didn't go well. Though I don't know how much influence Rory would have had in the game. I'm sure those that are on the cover do little consulting and it is more about just collecting some money for their likeness on the the boxart and use of their name.
I never played Rory... but I have seen youtube content. The one nice feature that appeared to be in the game was that they had caddies that tended the pin.
I would love to have the choice where my caddie would tend the pin for long putts, chip ins from off the green or short pitch shots from a little further off the green ala Phil Mickelson.
So many missteps by those designing this game. I shake my head almost everyday.

@Katybee_1313I saw a lot of people saying this argument about the number of player that are not there in the game. But I don't care about the player. I don't want the 2023 ryder cup. I want the system of a ryder cup in the career mode. It can be all no name player I don't care.
I think one of the early "The Golf Club" games got it right. Like yourself I could care less about the branding, the licensing of the PGA and Pros. I am here for the golfing experience.
The Golf Club at one point had no name players that all had different attributes... though you couldn't play against them head to head they did try to give yiu a simulated experience in a career mode. NOW here is where I thought they stepped outside the box. They allowed you to rename these noname players. So if you wanted you could spend the time to rename all the pros to those on the current tour. I vaguely remember you may have been able to adjust their attributes as well.
Now with the community at 2K building replica courses, and 2K being threatened if those franchises are available on their search engine. Imagine if 2K provided the users the ability to rename any course within their own internal user database. Meaning on the 2K server the course would be called "A Tradition Like No Other", but locally on my system it would read "Augusta National".
I think this was one of the reasons The Golf Club never cost the price of a AAA title. That the increased pricing is coming from licensing.
I personally don't see the appeal of playing as a pro or even against a sudo pro. You not actually playing against them so it might as well be joeblow from my local club.
But for those that do... I don't begrudge that it is in the game for you.
