Patch 8 updates...
I just saw that there is a new patch being dropped for tomorrow. https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-pga-tour/news/ea-sports-pga-tour-patch-notes-8-0?isLocalized=true It seems like there are some ne...

It’s one thing EA making a game catering solely for casuals, but also geared to people who think it’s great to have novelty gear like Halloween golf balls, balls with a bucket hat on them and skeleton tops? 🤦🏻♂️
Where’s the wider range from names like TaylorMade, Titleist and Callaway just to name a few. Give us more bags from these names, more balls, more clubs, more clothing, more shoes. Make the store better than the bare bones half arsed effort we still get.
Amazing that this is what EA think we are. But thanks EA for making my decision to stick with 2K an easy one 👍🏼
I absolutely agree... that this is an absolutely weak effort. That releasing Halloween theme items is about as little an effort as could be made and something that feels catered to children. However... 2K did basically the same thing. It actually has my playing partners rather upset, and they are course designers.
They are asking why did 2K drop some themed assets rather than fixing things within the game. Things that have been broken for years...
For myself new equipment became a nonstarter once both franchises made these items cosmetic only; It turned a corner for me... from Sim to Arcade.
Both games are flawed... but you are right 2K's currently offers a better experience.
@ELF014 Yes, both have been putting out weak efforts with their passes
I’m personally not offended by 2K making clubs cosmetic only but I’d like to see some difference that reflects the properties of the actual clubs… balls also. I am guessing it’s been done as cosmetic only to stop people just using one ball, one set of clubs and perhaps potential exploits… you know what people are like. I’d still like to see a slight difference between clubs and balls that’s reflective of it’s real world counterpart though
I looked at the latest EA pass and there was literally just a few tops, a few caps, a couple of balls and a bag. The 2K pass is arguably worse as it’s littered with so many Bogey Boys items which are just dire. The only items I saw worth getting were the hickory clubs for the occasional use. The new pass will be out soon… I wonder what rubbish they’ll hype up… I can’t wait to see 😆

There was a time not so long ago where 2K had attributes associated to the equipment. And the longest drivers were under the house brand, and yet I think few people actually used it. There was a trade-off as it was more difficult to time and you also couldn't work the ball as much.
Being that 2K is much more sensitive to shot execution it mattered. And since then 2K has speeded up the greens and added more roll out so it would only have mattered more.
Being cosmetic I personally no longer even care about new equipment anymore. As for EA, I'm looking for ways to make the game more realistic/challenging, so nothing they do in the way of fittings or specs is going to help. It will need to be done at the gameplay level, and they don't seem to understand they have left a large segment of players out in the cold.
I fully agree with you about 2K's pass... but then they probably feel there is no need to add innovation or be in any rush to fix anything, because their greatest competition shows no sign of any competence to threaten them.
Up until EA dropped their offering in April 2K seemed to be trying desperately to get new features and bug fixes out. Post release after seeing what EA's was offering and how poorly it was being received 2K has been pretty quiet.
Competition drives companies to release better products... in this case it just isn't happening. Both games are a little disappointing considering it is 2023 and not 2003. It is almost like they got together and split the market... neither are definitely great games... but EA said we will take the arcade market... you can have those looking for something closer to a sim.
EA, zero changes, absolutely disgusted with EA and how poorly they take the gaming community. pathetic how they (EA) think visuals and AI are going to impact the game when there are far worse issues to contend with.
they really need to listen to what the players have to say, or this game WILL be completely dead by Christmas.

I know we don't agree on much... but I just downloaded the update and had planned to play a full round to see what changed.
I couldn't even get through a full round of golf. I concur that whatever changes were made... they were not impactful for the 14 holes I played.
This game is already pretty much dead... the patient just doesn't know it yet.
