Patch Notes 4.0 Discussion
https://www.ea.com/games/ea-sports-pga-tour/news/ea-sports-pga-tour-patch-notes-4 Lets start with the obvious points - No online game modes - No 60 FPS - No 1 round career mode For a golf game...
Personally I just don't think there bothered about the community or there rep would have had bigger cahooners and stuck around in the discord, it almost seems like the two big golf game producers are working together and are just out purely for money, totally expected to want to make money, but to make the community pay for an under par (pardon the pun) game is outrageous,
If they realised that making the games good and listening to the main community gripes they would probably make more, yes they make games that attract many more players, but genuine sports games stick around for ever and attract all gamers at different stages in life, so as far as longevity goes they make money, so are worth getting right.
Like most are saying it is 2023 and most issues or gripes are basically standard things for these type of games, should be in from the start and not expected to be begged for, it ain't rocket science, implement the basics and let the game build its self and a good player base.
Could go on and on but falling on deaf ears........
Snore. Has anybody asked for a swing meter colour change? Like really…? had a quick scan through wish list thread and couldn’t see it. I would rather they did sweet FA than release a half arsed patch as a smoke screen to keep the player base clinging on.
A games longevity, especially a Golf game requires a solid multiplayer platform. I get a bigger thrill playing Tetris than I do playing divot derby on this.
Shambles EA!

I personally don’t wanna see the meter at all. I need to disable it completely
Major disappointment...
For on-line play I was hoping for turn based play enabled, as well as the ability to fully control the playing environment for all players. Meaning that the host can control not only the GAMEPLAY settings, but those in VISUAL as well. Afterall don't we all want to know that all competitors are playing under the same conditions. I also don't want to be tied to presets decided on by the game developer as to what SIM settings should be.
The other major issue I thought would be addressed was the triple bogey cap on scoring. If one were to hit a ball into the water on a par 5 you are already losing effectively 2 strokes if you don't get yardage...
The hole physics really need another rework. It needed to be addressed but in some ways they went way to far in trying to correct it.
I also found a new bug in career mode reflecting scoring.... it looks like they did address a lot of bugs but most of them look pretty trivial. They really need to work on getting the gameplay right.
I use the swing meter, and it was just a useless change. Also, for anyone trying to get one of the 100% power challenges good luck. It’s just harder now to judge 100% over swing until the swing passes into the red .

Anyone who wants to can go back to exactly how it was before. To do this they need to go into the Visual settings and change the Swing Meter Style from Modern to Classic. Which from a quick test is likely what I'll be doing.
I knew this game was doomed the moment EA HeySteveDave (community manager) felt some heat from the user base and unexpectedly quit the unofficial Discord and severed all communication with the community (which is weird, because I think that is kind of his job?) I think he knew that nothing tangible (and nothing ACTUALLY being requested by the community) was on the near future roadmap, so he got out of the kitchen before it got too hot. Can't blame him. If he was still around this week, the feedback from the small community that is left is absolutely brutal. No one is happy, and why should they be? We literally have a game with nothing but an offline career mode that gets rather old rather quickly (or, not quickly, since you can't choose to play less than four rounds in a tournament.)
It really is a shame, because this game actually had potential. And EA could deliver some requested multiplayer modes, crossplay, ranked, etc. down the line. But by then, there will be barely be anyone left to enjoy it.
It is REALLY hard to get people to pick up a sports game again months after they threw it in the bin.
You ALMOST had it EA....better luck next time! (although, I can say with 90% certainty that this is going to be the last EA golf game)
-Isn't the classic swing meter supposed to have notches and the blue trail? I only see the notches, but not the trail. Makes it hard to know where your club is on the backswing.
-Does anyone else's game completely freeze up when you try to check on your quests? A pinned quest cannot be unpinned for me either.
-Someone else pointed out that when you use the notchless swing, you need to pretty max out your takeaway to hit it the intended distance. I was wondering about that.
-Not a fan of having to pitch the ball when you are inside 70 yards, but not particularly near the green. You should be able to do an approach shot, just less powerfully. Pitches should be 30 yards and in.
