Who's asking for that? I want the swing meter, putt meter and green grids turned off. Greater lie penalties. Bigger dispersion zones. Less skill points. Not more aids. Isn't that what Arcade, Pro and Tour are for?!
I'm with you on everything except for the dispersion zone, I would rather have the swing mechanic be more sensitive to input than a bigger random area where the ball could end up.
It needs to be more input driven than some random event.
As I have been saying from day one, those developing this game are not true golfers.
The random area for shots from the fairway are generally fine. Shots from the rough need much bigger random areas for the simple fact that in real golf, the amount of grass between your club face and the ball creates randomness. Someone can still hit a perfect swing from the rough and have imperfect results.
Just noticed that, even if you have aiming arcs and everything off, you now get the orange icon on screen if you're going to hit a tree or something. Can that be turned off now somewhere? I'd prefer to play with a more "sim" style and as clean a screen as I can.

I think you misunderstand me... I have stated from the beginning that I never minded some randomness in the game. Because controller input is too precise.
My issue has always been that the RNG in this game overrides shot execution. You shouldn't require skill points or specs to hit a straight shot when your swing path and timing are perfect.
Im fine with a 1° dispersion for a perfectly executed shot... and it deviating more from there for poor shots. Meaning a perfectly hit 300 yard drive could be as much as 3 yards off line. But when you hit a good shot and it is 25 yards off line, that seems excessive.
You also shouldn't be able to spin the ball as much as you can from heavy rough either. I would love to have a closeup view of the ball lie to determine how deep my ball is in the lie and the direction of the grass to judge how my ball might come out. Or the type of lie in a bunker. But those things are not in the game either.

I heard someone complain it shows up if the lip of a fairway bunker is in the way as well.
I would love for them to allow us to disable as much as we wanted from the screen. To allow us find a playing environment thst suits us. Rather than pigeonhole us in their presets.
As I have said... the developers don't seem to understand there is a whole other segment of players out there who are highly skilled at playing these games and don't require or want all these assists.
Having watched them play in some of the online videos, they really are on the lower end as being able to be successful at the game.
Have been playing a few holes at St Andrews, where lie ranges and "resistance" was supposedly changed in the patch...I have seen basically no difference. I am still getting 92-97% lies in knee-high grass when using Approach or Finesse shots, and am still getting 100% lies when using the "Hack".

I am still trying the understand the purpose of multiple rough depths that you adjust in the game for the primary and secondary cut. When percentage loss doesn't seem to matter.
EA takes another giant step backwards in this patch. Still no opponent ball markers in online match play. New putting gimmick is so stupid th R word could be used without recourse.Lack of individual skill level lobbies with all play formats just screams of laziness. A few more patches like the last few and I'm sure you can destroy what's left of this game.

They have shown they never cared about online play. only guys left now are guys like elf all over the forums advocating for everything against it. The game is already destroyed on the pc now, and i'm so upset i'm besides myself.
The news that they were finally going to start increasing the lie penalties and "resistance" as they put it, on St. Andrews with this patch, was very exciting to many of us. I guess that means for them to increase the ridiculously easy rough and tall grass issues, they have to do it one course at a time. It was encouraging to see in the patch notes that they were addressing this with St. Andrews first.
However, at least at this point, it seems to be a total non starter. See this link at Operation Sports for very specific screen shots and situations where I tried purposely to hit into the nastiest stuff at St. Andrews, and never saw less than 93-97% lie, with any shot type or club. It just *didn't get changed*. Very, very disappointing.

I love this game and play it every day, over 450 hours at this point since pre launch. The most glaring issue with the game at this point, other than not being able to play on the couch with your friend or wife as created players, is how there is literally no penalty or "resistance" for hitting the ball in the rough, let alone weeds up to your chest at places like St. Andrews (and every other course). I was encouraged when I saw they were addressing this with this patch, but after 3 hours of trying to prove myself wrong about how it didn't change anything, it's obvious nothing has changed with the lie penalties at St. Andrews.

Got to agree. After a few rounds of online stroke play and their decision to randomize the 9 holes seems to be losing track of what they randomize. At least 2 of the 4 games I played, I wasn't playing the holes listed on the scorecard. I only noticed because I eagled a par 5 but the score card tracked it as a par 3 so I got par instead of -2 but then on the scorecard par 5 I was shooting at a par 3...almost got a condor, but as it was I got bird but albatross for the scorecard. It may have happened on the other two games, I just didn't notice if they were all correct pars, just wrong hole.
IMO they should have just given us random tees (black, blue, white, red) and not this mix-up of holes. You don't know what hole you're really on with out checking the scorecard. It may say 16th on top but it's really your 2nd to last hole (17), etc.
