PGA Tour.....What can I say? Even in EASY MODE this game is a headache to play!! When you drive it's fine. It's the medium and short games that are totally unrealistic!! When I try to shorten up on t...
I'm playing on Steam and the short game is nothing short of pot luck.
Like putting SP, the short game SP seems only to offer the extra shot types but in no way makes you any more accurate than if you dump all your short game SP altogether. Consistently, I see a dead straight line on the meter but the ball heading off at 45 degree angles. If you aim left, the shot goes further left, aim right, it goes further right. Chips and pitches require only 50% hits to get to and go past your target and some of the other short game shots I gave up on because they are unplayable, the runner especially, is completely out of control. I like the spinner but just a minor elevation change requires a major rethink of your shot and again, you seem to lose any control.
The game is so hugely inconsistent, I firmly believe that EA did no testing before release.

Not to defend the game but, pitches, chips, runners etc... show CARRY. You still need to account for the ball roll out and any slope.
As far as the dispersion of shots, I agree it is a bit over done with some shots/clubs. But that will tighten up with skill points. The game is still a bit of a mess though.
Account for roll, slope, etcetera....hmm...and just how do you do that? Because the meter is not accurate at all!! One putt it goes in, another where all things are equal to the previous and it does not go in or worse yet it overshoots like it's on a jet in outer space! At least in the 2K23 version from 2K Sports it's consistent and when I do overshoot, it's my fault!! IF you have both games, do this....
Play EA's PGA for two rounds with everything in EASY MODE. You will not get even close to making the cut at Augusta. Then go play 2K Sports PGA 2K23 with the same settings. You will score a MINUS 17 if not lower!!

I was responding to the distance a ball travels. For instance, a chip on a flat surface will roughly carry half the distance and roll the other half.
So if you are 12 yards from the hole you want to hit a 6 yard chip.
Thanks for the advice!! Yes, I am almost finished with the second set of Callaway Challenges and yes you are right. They help with improving the short game and in judging the distances correctly. And like another user mentioned earlier the long game is still a crapshoot. The drive off the tee can mean the difference between a birdie or a double bogey. At least in the challenges I can have as many “do overs” as I want. Imagine if we had to put quarters in it!!
THIS IS THE WAY

WTF is this?? The ball is IN THE HOLE!! The AI says it’s one inch away!! I call BULL CACA on EA!!!
@PinarelloFP3This happened to me twice in LACC. For other courses, that did not happen. That should be in the hole. That was a good pic showing a bug.
Have you or anyone seen the scoreboard on the PGA Tour? According to the scoreboard, everybody is EVEN.
Clearly EA did not do their homework debugging the game. It has such great potentia! Heck, I played it all night last night from 8:30 PM to 6:00 AM. My wife could hear me cursing and using f-bombs and MF this and that!
what bothers me the most is the lack of consistency on similar shots and wind conditions. A 7mph cross wind doesn’t affect a drive on a Par5 but the same 7mph cross wind will move the approach shot 15 yards away from the hole half the distance to the hole. Not to mention the runaway shots that just will not sit on the greens. I have made eagle on a Par 5 in 2K23 from 225 yards away. There is no way to do that on EA. As soon as the ball lands it just keeps going and going like it has a motor.
Respectfully, I am very well aware of this stuff.
Nonetheless, the issues I raise are real.

I agree with you, but the short game is pretty tight, if you have skill points assigned. My flop and pick shots land inside 5 feet 95% of the time. Inside 8 feet 99% of the time.
I do have an avatar with no skill points, and yes the amount of dispersion seems ridiculous. But it doesn't prevent me from scoring low. It just puts more pressure on my putting. Par should still be expected due to the simple putting mechanics.
But you are not wrong, the RNG needs some adjustment and swing execution should be the main parameter causing the final outcome of a shot.
Hello,
660E7C4EDB422F6E is correct! Stay the course and level up with SP's. I used the Sponsor Challenges (easiest way, won't affect your PGA progress) from Callaway and all I have left is the "Go Bogey Free" on the last level. Not easy on 18 holes and neither was getting 5 close approach shots (within 2% of the distance from the approach shot) but I did it. In the process I leveled up and got a bunch of SP's which helped me tighten up the approaches and the putting. The driving is still a crapshoot but to paraphrase the late Bobby Jones: "Two bad shots and a great putt still equal birdie!"
I can attest to this because last night I finally got my first win!! Of all places....RIVIERA!!

I have found that if I underswing the driver it usually goes pretty straight. I used to do this a lot when there was a water hazard in play. Or use a 3 wood, you don't always need to get max distance on a hole.
