Same on PS5. Across basically all games cheating seems to be principally a very depressing aspect of PC gaming which sadly doesn't look like going away any time soon. Why anyone finds it fun or thinks they're impressing anyone is beyond me.

i play on pc and would NEVER use a cheat in an online game, just not worth the chance of getting caught

just about any game i play, i can keep up with the "best" of them (if i put the effort into it) but sometimes its just not worth the time and effort because someone will use some kind of cheat to beat your score or whatever it is you have done well.

so.. you wanna cheat?  go play a single player game where no one cares what youre doing, dont bring your stink into the multiplayer realm!

I just hit a 17 under par on that NZ course the other day on Tour, and thats with some mistakes/missed putts too so i can see its definitely doable if you can stay consistent. I don't do all the maths like some people do either. The 18 under par that is winning the weekly Tour tourney on Xbox is definitely beatable too, i think im on like 14 under or something and i made loads of silly errors.

Yeah I've not played much on tour difficulty done like 17 online tournaments on tour so missed quite afew haha yeah I'm gonna try the weekly one soon ithink see how ido over 18 holes if can get something like -10 ill be pretty happy with that...I've got loads of tickets so can do afew tries if I choose to

Got -16 on tour weekly 18 holes...-20  leads it on xbox its definitely doable iwould say ...pretty sure icould get 18 or 19 under

Noticed the same thing and took a pic of it. And no. Nobody is that good in this game.

just seen that, hole in 1 at all holes inc a par 5. if that person is that good they should start a youtube channel, wouldnt be long til they would be making a good living playing video games.

Yes,  you really can't stop it.  Anonymity is the problem.  All we can do is discourage it and  keep them in separate tourneys.  Which in essence is what we did with cheaters or "players too good"  in the early 2000s.  2004 was a great year for pc gaming.     But to let these top players affect the whole entire playerbase is basically letting them ragequit the playerbase.

I suggest having  open tournaments and matches available for everyone.  and then tournaments and matches based on skill rating.   Of course you will have tons of smurfs but its still better than nothing.

So I guess this game isn't cross platform?  Thats basically what all my friends and family that played the original tiger woods games on pc ended up doing.   There was a point when my parents,  all my cousins all my friends were playing tiger woods on the pc but now  I am the only one that still plays games on the pc and they have all moved to consoles.   But Thats really only delaying the inevitable.  Consoles are getting exploited too now though and most of my friends and family started playing wgt on phones and tablets lol.    Actually I was playing WGT on my tablet for a while lol. 

But there will come a point when consoles are exploited just as bad as pc's and things like this will need to be directly addressed by game companies.   It will become indistinguishable. Because as I have said most of the unsportlike unfair exploits have nothing to do with computer programming.   EA Sports changed in the industry in 1986 with World Tour Golf.  Then again with the tiger woods series in 1998 which ended a decade later.  For many of the reasons we are talking about here.   They have an opportunity to change the industry again.   The Tiger Woods series never had a matchmaker rating system,  which is what almost all multiplayer online games have now.  They can even use the same rating system the pga uses lol.

For this conversation to have any value people need to provide more info. PC/PS/Xbox, what where when the tourney was etc. The "get good' people and the "are there cheaters" people are not on the same page. Console folks don't seem to be seeing what the PC folks are seeing. (sadly) 

I'm on PC. I've never cheated or installed a hack in my.....wow, 30 years of PC gaming. (Microsoft Golf days) ON PC, we're seeing tourney scores of 4,5,6,7 total strokes of Par 16 tourneys, Last night Par16, 4- par 4's, St Andrews Old Course, Holes 15,16,17,18. A person shot 7 strokes, for -9. (AVG 1.75 strokes per hole). Did they ace a 355 yard hole and eagle the other 450 yard holes, maybe... the course does roll out forever, you could drive 355 and sink one, then go on to sink every approach shot from 150-200 yards out, BUT this seems very unlikely to me. Then, last week or so, seemed to be a newer account, someone shot 12 under on a Par 16 tourney...I'll do the math, FOUR STROKES, on FOUR HOLES, aces even on 460 yrd holes! Something has gone south too soon and it's a shame people find joy in this! How they sleep at night? I don't know.

BTW, on my first pc, 120 MHz, dial up 28.8k, Microsoft Golf had turn based play, text to chat, lobbies to find games with people, I would golf with people around the world and have a nice conversation while doing so, It was awesome!.... NOW we can't talk to each other, cant communicate at all through the game. (not even a comm. rose to say nice hit, good game...) It's a shame. and it's cause people rage on each other before they have a conversation. Be kind to your fellow golfers. Need better communication.      I'll get off my "old man" soap box now, I could go on and on. Have a good one.

on a 4 hole that would be nuts.   on a 9 hole -8 for sure is nothing crazy.  I just shot a -8 on a competitive 9 hole match my opponent got -5.  I consider myself an average player.l  I wish i was able to save the scorecard and look at the stats again.  I eagled the first hole lol.birdied and par'd the rest.  we both ended up in the rough or sand a couple times.  pretty fair course conditions.

Score doesn't determine if someone is cheating.   What is a real suspicious factor is just how consistent some people are,  especially with the intentional randomness this game has.  there is a couple guys i just avoid playing, who are in the top 10.   Even if they are not cheating, they way too good for me lol.

I've always been a match player on the old pc games back in the days.  Its so nostalgic playing again almost 15 years later.   My father RichPuffy, RIP , loved this game when I turned him on to it.    He is the one who got me into the club tournaments which are the ones I liked to play because they would be created for players at certain skill levels. 

This is why in theory pc games should be more popular then they were when they peaked in 2004,  but I don't think anyone realized the company run servers with match making rating systems would be so severely undermined by the anonymity and people making multiple accounts so much that dedicated servers of the past were actually more sporting.    What happened was we could no longer segregate these hackers because the power of their ddos attacks got too strong.

im no slouch of a player and even i cant keep up with the -13 on the 9 holes.  this week, back 9 whistling straights, 2 par 3s and 2 par 5s, to get to -13 that means the player is acing BOTH par 3s and eagles on both par 5s with birdies sprayed in the par 4s... and with the conditions... c'mon now, no one has that kind of "luck"

@ragingsaintI think 13 is very doable on that back 9. I tried it and shot -11, but with my character stats, I was able to barely reach 2 par 4s in 1 so those are the likely 2 extra eagles that someone got. I didn't fully focus on power, so if I had more stats geared toward power, those holes would have been easier to reach for someone who has.

I do agree though that tournaments should be 1 entry.  It makes sense and it's not really fair to allow re-playing the same tournament repeatedly and memorizing the conditions.  I rarely attempt a tournament more than once but I'm sure there are some that do many tries.

Just noticed someone today posted a -31 on 18 holes of arcade weekly tournament ( PC )

I don’t care how good you are, absolutely nobody is doing that.  Nobody.  There is cheating going on for sure.
