Guys please, revert. This update on putting is terrible. Additionally, the lip-outs are terrible. I've got 100 matches under my belt on this IP to learn the game and just getting a handle on it. I've played Amateur and Pro settings on TW since 2006, I'm not a new player.

I had a few goes at the free pro tournament this morning and keeping the aim point distance as it defaulted to seemed to be working OK for me?

Honestly, I disagree with that 1. I zoomed in to the cup as the ball got to it and that speed and where it hit the cup (just left of centre not even right on the outer edge), that should have dropped. That is broken there IMO.
I don't get what is there making it look like it's hitting something knocking it left. Like an invisible flag stick.
Hmmmm I think the putting since the patch has been improved in the sense you now have to read greens and control the speed. It’s how it should be and I’ve already commented on that.
I’ve also said it’s not perfect, and I do recognize there is a few instances that leave you scratching your head
go into challenges and select the open championship for long putts. The final putt is of Ian poulter using a Texas wedge. I found the correct speed is of around 205ft to the hole, yet around 2ft before the cup, you can clearly see an invisible object nudge it right or left so it misses. I’ve tried 200ft, 210ft, 215ft and it’s consistent that something is knocking it off course.
after you’ve hit the putt, use your analog stick and follow the ball from behind…. You can clearly see the faint nudge.
All they did was force higher scores by making shots more inconsistent.
They force lip outs and you can tell because all they did was program the ball to spin in a circle as it gets very close to the hole. You can see the ball sometimes completely spin in a circle as it comes to a rest near the hole even without a lip out occurring. Lip outs actually rarely occur in a real round of golf so this aspect is very unrealistic. The pros may have 1 lip out in 3-4 rounds of golf and this game should be the same especially with points allocated into putting.
They also force miss-hits when putting. I have points in putting and often times the ball will be hit 1-2’ offline when it leaves the putter even with a perfect back swing and follow through. This happens way more often than it should.
The putting needed to be tweaked but simply forcing higher scores by forcing lip outs and miss hits is not the way to do it. That is simply a bail out in programming.
I agree with the OP that the cup physics are not right but in saying thst they were not right before they "quote" fixed it.
It seems like they went a little overboard to prove that the game now has lip outs.
The new camera angle following the ball to the hole is a nice touch, but it too in my opinion is a bit flawed. To me camera is a little late behind the action and you don't get a good look at the ball arriving at the hole. The angle should be a bit higher, and as I said zoomed in sooner.
I haven't tested the cup physics yet, but prior to the update I could set the distance to 25 feet for a 6 foot putt and it would go in. I could set it substantially higher and have it pop up and sit 6 inches on the otherside of the cup.
The update is better, but far from perfect.
I think the way the lip has been “adjusted” still needs a bit of refinement. First day of the patch in an hour or so doing some challenges and other stuff with an AI player, both of us had 4 or 5 balls perched right on the lip, but not going in.

This putt ended ONE FOOT past the hole so there’s no chance anyone can say this was hit too hard
I'm extremely careful with my swings and getting A LOT of roll-overs on putts and approaches (but mostly putts).
