I created this account simply to say that these “random acts of god” existing in Arcade mode at all is a thief of joy. Otherwise this game is great.
I've learned to live with it, and yes, as you spec up you will see less shots doing things you didn't expect. I really don't mind it now except for when I do challenges. It can be hard to land 3 balls close to the pin when some random calculation is deciding if you will make it or not. Everywhere else, I'm mostly in the area of what I want, and just work harder to make a putt or whatever situation I'm in.
While I agree that it's there to work within a direction they decided to go with the game, grinding for stuff in store with less than fair pricing, and that it's not likely to change as, well, look at every other EA Sports game....It's In The Game....I don't believe for a second it couldn't be removed from the game and store items could work like it did in older golf game titles. At least you can't buy specs, and the game itself is actually really decent and fun to play, so I say just learn to live with it, and if that's what wrecks your game and you need to leave, cool, I understand. I would suggest at least sticking with it till you max out your player and get some great gold specs and see how you feel then. I think at that point you will have a better idea if you can tolerate the random aspects of the game.

It's not just about the specs you can buy though, it's the whole skill point upgrade system and the different shot types too. It is obviously technically possible for the random element to be removed but I really don't see any chance of it happening personally as it is just so fundamental to these game mechanics.
When the game first came out my immediate reaction was to hate any random element in a sports game. Like you I've kind of got used to it and with the effect minimised through upgrades I'll be honest I no longer really think about it.

To me randomness is unacceptable. Hey if i miss my mark and mess up that's my bad but to get perfect perfect and it goes way off especially on the lowest mode is unacceptable. IMHO.

My player is a 98. Accuracy is nearly perfect spec-wise…. And it still happens anytime I get on a roll, breaking momentum and sucking the fun out of what is supposed to be an arcade experience. Not a sim experience. I wouldn’t trust the sim experience either with these random acts of digital god making arbitrary choices as to whether or not the ball goes where I hit it or not.
it actually seems to penalize you for a “perfect / perfect / straight” swing.

I know you guys are good but have you tried the timed strike ? There’s definitely something to experiment with timing of strike relative to aiming arc movement in my opinion.
I’m a bad player & can hit a reasonably consistent landing area.
