If you start playing at a minimum the free daily tournaments you'll find the specs in the store no longer looks so expensive. Playing weekly tournaments may earn you more if you're good enough to place high enough. You can also win low level specs actually.
The best specs you can get without buying them come from winning the majors.
The recently added daily challenges are a fairly easy 500 reward points per day too.

Actually no I believe you can't play most of them. I think there is a free one you can play but don't do any of the ones you have to pay to enter as I think you'll find after you've paid that you can't use three click (there have been a couple of posts where people said this happened to them). If there is a free one you can play that will still be a worthwhile source of reward points to go towards buying specs.
