People who choose to leave matches early are but those who leave due to connection issues are not. The latter definitely happens, as posts here from people complaining about their participation in online tournaments and even career mode being disrupted demonstrate. My suggestion is to treat everyone fairly and I honestly don't see a downside. But again I don't expect to see it happen either 🙂.
I'm clearly not going to convince you though so I'll leave this discussion here.
I've never had a disconnection issue. Anybody that does needs to fix their connection or system. All I can do is assume they are all cheaters, pre-emptiung the fact that EA might start implementing penalties for the exploitation they are committing. Because maybe I'm assuming you realize when you don't, that cheaters in many video games cause themselves to disconnect on purpose to take advantage of naive devs like you are presenting yourself to be.
