My personal view is that if this were added it should be an option rather than mandatory. I'm sure loads of players wouldn't want a timer.

there already is, and we get penalized for going over it. The problem is we can't see it or even know how long it is.

Really? If there is one that's active for local multiplayer then I agree it should be shown. @5ebdc9220acb2610 's original post rather suggests there isn't though?

So you've never seen you or your opponent get an automatic triple bogey for taking too long? interesting cau8se its happened to me twice and I'm positive its happened to people I've played against as well. I think you even get a message on the screen but I can't remember.
I think that it should be an automatic shot clock on the competitive random play . Which as I've said there already is its just unknown. And it should definitely be an option to select for local private matches as well.

I said I'd experiment as I'd not tried LOCAL multiplayer. I have just given it a try though and waiting over 5 minutes for both a first and second shot didn't trigger any time-out for me. By local multiplayer I'm referring to when you're playing with other people in the same room, which you do via the Quick Play option on the main menu. Have you definitely experienced a time-out in this mode?

Happened again tonight. I was in a threesome with two other guys...pause...and i birdied the first hole. The second hole I'm assuming one of the guys finished so fast, that me and another guy got an automatic triple bogey for taking too long. The hole just ended on us both on the green.
So now I can't even enjoy cutscenes and my plyers animation cause I have to try and play super fast because this might become a new tactic used against players lol. What happens when they enable fast play? ugh. Then I felt bad for the one guy, cause the very next hole after that he was last one left and I saw him go to putt and mid swing it just gave him a triple bogey again lol. That dude ended up +8, i managed to get back to finish at -1 and get the wins. Actually I think they might of both quit right before they ended their last hole denying me a win.
EA really needs to fix this. Noone is going to stay with the game with competitve game mode in this state.
EDIT: ANother issue is that when playing fast ever since the last update. There is this glitch where on your last putt you won't see the player animation and the player will be frozen looking at the ground. The fix for this is wait a little bit before putting, but as I've said you risk getting an automatic triple bogey lol. So i have to skip cutscenes and animations and probably won't see the animation of my last putt hoping to avoid getting penalized.
